Why I didn’t recommend any ‘Black Friday’ deals

Why I didn’t recommend any Black Friday deals

Truth is, I didn’t want you to buy anything! As an affiliate for a fair number of brands, I’m happy to pass on links for products I’ve bought myself, make up and skin care, I’ve actually used.

The problem with Black Friday ‘deals’ is that often offers aren’t really bargains unless you’re stocking up on products you already own, and you know for sure, they’re at a discounted price. I also guarantee these ‘special offers’ will whirl around again come January anyway.

Plus, I can see that a good few of you are actually purchasing items I recommend – which is great, I love that you trust me.

I’m more than happy to make my own purchases and only accept products to review if they’re different, or I think they’ll be of genuine interest to you. I’ve earned enough from sponsored posts (clearly marked y’all), this year to pay for blog hosting for another 3/4 years.

I don’t buy products for this blog, I buy them for me and if they’re any good, I will let you know. On that subject, my next review is a mascara that looks the same at the end of day as it did when first applied. If you’ve got short, spindly eyelashes, this is one for you.

OH AND ONE LITTLE THING…

Mandy. Gurl, I know you’ll read this at some point.

When I recommended Pipdig WordPress themes for your blog when you became self-hosted and showed you my new site, I didn’t mean for you to copy my logo.

I’m too old and can’t be arsed chilled to make a thing of it and the font is freely available to everyone but, you know…blog etiquette and all that jazz.

copycat
PS You spelt gorgeous wrong – I’m hacked off with you, but I don’t want you looking silly, so you should probably change that.

I love how adult you are about being copied instead of what many would have done and descended into a hissy fit and a pity party. Also appreciate how truthfully you are about all these “special” deals and how you only review products you genuinely feel happy about.
I have been subscribed to you for a while and see the passion you have for everything you show, and how youre not doing it like some that could be mentioned, just for the paid or gifted items or that this is the “best thing I have ever tried” until the next brand gifts an item.
Please keep like this as it’s like a breath of fresh air and I’m sure that I’m not the only one that appreciates your truthfulness x

      Hi Anita,

Thanks so much for these comments, I really appreciate them.

I might’ve had a mini meltdown 30 years ago, but life’s too short to sweat the small stuff. Plus, Mandy’s a good person and I actually value her opinion when it comes to reviews.

Talking of reviews, I feel like I can’t always trust bloggers, vloggers (aka ‘floggers’) because everyone is trying to sell you something.

I’ve made so many expensive mistakes because I’ve been sucked in.
Clearing out some drawers yesterday I came across two very painful reminders of my sheeple attitude, the bloody Marc Jacobs green cover stick thing and the Hourglass dim lighting powder which gives me an eerie alien glow.

I think Lisa Eldridge is the only one I trust now, the big influencers are too cliquey, plus, I did see someone I can’t name, but has her own recently launched, make up line, in person, in Brent Cross beauty hall last week and she looked horrendous, puffed up cheeks and an enormous joker mouth. Yet the same person looks so pretty in photos online. Why don’t her friends say, stop, enough now? It’s all smoke and mirrors.

      Thanks again for commenting Anita.

    Hi Ann Marie Gurl,
I just want to say straight up. I am so sorry you feel i would ever need to copy you in any way at all. You could have emailed me about this at any point and i would have explained all.
Pigdig was recommended by siteground and the reason why i used it is because, it’s currently used by many professional bloggers.
I have no need whatsoever to copy ‘your’ logo. Really!!! Does the heading mean i have copied you? It is available to anyone to use as they see fit and certainly not owned by myself or you.
I am thankful that you made the recommendation about Siteground though and i’m sure i would have read your blog about it. Thankyou so much for that. I managed to set it up by myself very easily in the end.
I did do the gold heading with red trim to reflect the season and this will be changing after Christmas.have a Christmas and good luck going forward with your blog. xxxxx
