UNDER REVIEW: Yes To Grapefruit CC Cream Light

yes to grapefruit cc creamYou wait for one CC Cream to come along…

I have of course, heard of the Yes to…Carrots brand. For some crazy reason, I thought it was a self tan with carrot extract. You know, eat enough carrots and you’ll start to take on an orange hue? (Actually, there might be something in that).

The Yes to… range of multi award-winning, paraben free, up to 99% natural, skin care products has expanded to include extracts of cucumbers, grapefruit, tomatoes and blueberries – each fruit or vegetable, theme addresses various skin care concerns.

yes to rangeI have been asked to review products from Yes to Blueberries, the ‘Age Refresh’ range formulated for Fine Lines and Wrinkles. I also chose a few products (mainly because of positive reviews from older women) namely: Yes to Grapefruit Daily Facial Scrub for Uneven Skin Tone and Yes to Tomatoes Daily Pore Scrub for Combination Skin.

A product which caught my eye immediately was Yes to Grapefruit CC Cream for Uneven Skin Tone, (CC generally stands for colour and correct). I was particularly keen to try this after my success with new foundation favourite, Supergoop’s CC Cream.

Yes to Grapefruit CC Cream is a natural, lightweight, colour correcting daily moisturiser which hydrates and helps even skin tone. Think of our light shade as a little hint of ivory, petals, and honey for a flawless finish your skin will love.

Well, it’s the same, but different. That is, both products deliver what a cc cream is meant to do, ie cover and correct the complexion, but they don’t feel or sit on the skin in the same way.  I find Supergoop’s CC Cream is thicker and a little bit oily, it’s definitely more of a medium coverage foundation, this one is lighter on the skin and the coverage is light.

Because it’s thin textured, although not watery or runny, I think this is best applied with a foundation brush in a light dabbing motion, this way you can build the colour. It doesn’t streak either, which is important if you’re going to apply it in light layers. Although it’s not tacky upon application, you should allow a minute or so for it to dry.

It is a light wash of colour, but there’s no denying that it will cover redness and even skin tone without any cakeyness and, as a lot of reviewers have said, it does look natural and behaves like a tinted moisturiser only with better coverage.

This did surprise me, for all the various oils in the product – including a favourite of mine, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, it dries sheer, but matt on me. Matt skin is ageing, but this works because it’s so sheer. I also apply it under my eyes and it will conceal shadows and even up skin colour without looking obvious or cakey.

The scent, and I’m particularly ‘funny’ about fragrance, is obviously a love or hate thing. If you sniff the bottle, then yes, you can detect almost a ‘sour’ kind of whiff, but once applied, it dries to light, natural, grapefruit smell.

Grrr! Too much product comes out in a single pump. I would prefer it if the foundation came in a tube – everything should come in a  tube! I’ve decanted some into a tiny pot, because it’s great for little touch ups during the day.

Reviews from ‘real’ people are so valuable. I’ve gleaned a lot of tips and I’ve sometimes used a product in a different way based on other people’s experiences.

Going through reviews of this cc cream, it appeals to teenage skin because of its sheer, natural looking coverage and its ability to cover spots. Mature skin types like it because we don’t want heavy, ageing foundation, we want to be able to even out our (sometimes patchy) skin, but still look fresh.

My skin is sensitive so when I get out of the shower it’s usually a bit red and irritable looking. This cream calms my skin down and creates a very even look to my face. It goes on light but I still feel like my face is moisturised. While the colour coverage is light, I find that I don’t need to add anything to cover blemishes as much as I did without this product.

This cc cream is has a very light texture, blends in well to my skin without leaving it looking dry and flaky, and has just a very light tint. Since I haven’t used foundation very recently, I didn’t want something that would make my skin a significantly different colour. This one just makes my face look slightly more tan and I can hardly tell that I’m wearing it.

I bought this for the first time and I will definitely be a repeat customer. I bought the “light” shade because I am Irish and very pale and it was a perfect match. It makes my skin look so much better. I love it because I don’t wear makeup often and it looks like I put concealer on.

I’ve tried bb creams before and they were always greasy. I was iffy about a cc cream but this one is awesome! It’s lightweight and not greasy. I wear it underneath my makeup and it almost acts as a face primer.

This cream is weightless yet I don’t need any other moisturiser after using it. It’s perfect to go under makeup and I really feel like the enzymes are making my skin look better. I would not wear this alone, however. I’ve worn some BB creams and tinted moisturisers on some days, but I feel like this has no coverage at all.

I use this daily and am almost done with my second bottle of it. I noticed my skin improved after starting to use this, it’s none greasy, very light coverage so I like to use it under my powder foundation. The smell is a little strange but I’ve got past that. My skin has definitely improved since using this.

I often use it as a primer under other makeup, and it works pretty well for that. The only thing I’m not that fond of is the fragrance – a little too strong for me.

I have been using this product for about a week and it’s perfect for what I was looking for. I have very pale white skin with freckles and it evens out my red areas while still looking like my natural face. The coverage also makes my freckles look a little lighter. I don’t like that heavy makeup look and this was perfect.

I love the smoothness and creaminess of this product. It really goes on smooth and evens out my skin. I am a ginger and I have light skin. Recently with age I have acquired rosacea and hormonal acne or red pimples and I wanted to try a tinted moisturiser. I tried other store brands and found them too heavy, oily and they left my skin gasping for breath. Even, light coverage that doesn’t feel greasy and makes my skin look and feel really good all day long.

This CC cream helps calm my reddish complexion during summer months in sunny Florida while protecting me from the harsh UV rays. It is a bit thinner than I liked but after a few days of using it I realised that it is easy to build once it sets.
The smell takes some getting used to, but I like it more and more after each use! Overall, it was a great buy. It keeps my skin from looking dry and it looks natural, with an easily blendable formula!

Doesn’t irritate my skin or cause break outs–which has always been a problem in the past–and leaves my skin well-moisturised and smooth. It does a good job of evening out my skin tone too–I’m prone to redness, but this has me covered (hah).

I feel that it evens my skin tone without looking like I have anything on, which I was really surprised about. I keep thinking I will notice a difference in colour, and have rubbed the extra on my arm to see if it showed up – but it seems to blend in flawlessly wherever it goes.
I have fair skin in the winter than tans up very easily as soon as summer starts, and it seems like I’d be able to use this product no matter what season. The added SPF is a huge plus for me, too.

This is perfect for my oily skin in the spring, summer fall months and not drying in the winter months. I can work out and not worry about my makeup. It’s light but that’s fine for me as I don’t like to look like I’m wearing a mask.

I have VERY acne prone skin that completely erupted early last spring. By the time I reigned it in, I was left with dark spots and dry skin. This fixes both of those problems while protecting me from the sun and not causing further breakouts. I like to moisturise with this first and then cut it half and half with my liquid foundation to give a little more coverage as my acne spots continue to fade.

Coverage was just what my 15-year-old needed. She just started wearing minimal makeup and wanted something that had sunscreen and a bit of tint to act like a foundation. I bought this for her and she LOVES this product.

CC Cream is a liquidy mess that smells like grapefruit and clay, totally unappealing and disappointing.

It hasn’t really helped with my acne prone skin. If I don’t do an excellent job of removing the product I find an extra blemish or two the next day. That’s kinda my fault though haha!

I love that this gives a great sheer relatively matte coverage and has toning and even long-term benefits! I also really love the light fresh grapefruit scent, and you get a ton of product! It tends to feel a little tacky when you touch your face, but I just hit it with an additional SPF mineral veil powder and that takes care of that.

TOO DARK FOR ALABASTER SKIN TONES (I would agree, it’s pale, but not THAT pale!

If you are very fair [like alabaster], this is probably a tad too dark. It’s more of an Ivory/classic ivory with neutral to pink tones. It’s not yellowy at all, but it is sheer enough that I think most anyone can wear it.

I saw this cc cream and thought hmmm I wonder if it is like bb creams that make me shiny?  I have combination 46-year-old skin. This cc cream covers all my red spots, it feels light, moisturisers my dry areas and I’m shine free at the end of the day.
