Skinade™Collagen Skincare Drink

I’m on day 3 of a 30 day trial of Skinade, the multi award-winning anti-ageing collagen drink, created by Bottled Science and made in the UK.

A scientifically formulated collagen drink that repairs and strengthens skin from the inside for younger, healthier and brighter looking skin on the outside.

Skinade’s patent-pending formulation of active ingredients boosts the body’s natural production of collagen and hyaluronic acid and promotes stronger hair and nails.

Skinade’s six active ingredients work synergistically to promote optimal skin function and allow for an absorption rate of 95%.

As a liquid supplement, its innovative formulation is highly bio-available, meaning that the body can absorb and make use of a higher proportion of the active nutrients.

I’m a fan of collagen drinks, I don’t care if thousands of studies declare it’s impossible for the body to absorb these nutrients, I believe in them. Fortunately, skin care science has moved on and some dermatologists now also believe that collagen molecules can be broken down enough to be absorbed into the blood stream and synthesise new collagen.

The marine collagen (extracted from the skin of freshwater fish) in skinade™ has been hydrolysed, which means that it has been through a gentle, enzymatic process that breaks down the larger collagen molecules into collagen peptides.

These peptides have a much lower molecular weight and can be easily transported to and absorbed in areas where the skin needs it.

People are repeat buying for a reason, and the reason is that they can see real results. With me, it’s always my nails first, if they start to grow and become stronger, then I know that the condition of my hair and then my skin will start to improve.

Skinade™ doesn’t contain bovine or porcine products, hormones, genetically modified organisms (gmo), alcohol, added sugar (it’s less than 35 calories), artificial flavours or artificial colours.

With a plethora of awards under its belt and packaged in either stylish, plastic 150ml bottles or soft 15ml travel sized tubes, (to be diluted with water), Skinade is the glamour girl of collagen drinks and is often spotted on the Instagram accounts of Millie Mackintosh, Donna Air, Sienna Miller and Abbey Clancy, nestled between soy milk lattes and egg white omelettes.

Collagen drinks have a distinctive smell. It’s not unpleasant or fishy in any way, it’s more of a faintly metallic, smell. You’re only going to find this if you sniff the bottle though, once you actually drink it, it has a peachy/lychee flavour to it.

I find Skinade smooth to drink, it’s not overly sweet or bitter, and there are no gritty bits in it. If you do find it’s not to your taste, then pop a bottle in the fridge overnight to chill, this usually dilutes any strong flavour.

I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing the following results, as commonly reported by consumers:

After 4 to 6 days – Skin is softer and more hydrated.

After 10 to 14 days – Skin is more smooth, radiant, glowing and more uniform.

Between 2 to 4 weeks – Skin starts to appear firmer and fuller with a noticeable reduction in fine line and wrinkles. (THIS ONE PLEASE!)

I always moan that I can’t take reviews of anti-ageing creams and serums by 20 year olds seriously – skin at that age should be smooth and firm!

However, I do believe that anti-ageing prevention should start in your 20s. This is when the production of collagen, which gives skin its strength and elasticity, begins to slows down.

A collagen drink supplement such as Skinade, is one of easiest ways to kick-start the anti-ageing process, alongside of course, a good skin care routine and a high quality SPF cream.

27 days to go!

UPDATE 18th January 2016

Well, I’m certainly sorry to see the back of Skinade, I make no apologies for raving about collagen drinks. I appreciate that they’re not for everyone, but I have always experienced improvements, although results can vary.

In my experience, a high quality collagen supplement drink improves the condition and strength of nails first. I’m sticking my neck out a bit here, but I would say that if you don’t see this change after 3-4 weeks (although it’s usually around the 3 week mark), then perhaps that particular supplement isn’t for you and you may never see a tangible difference. But, as I’ve stated above, if you do see a change, you will repeat buy to maximise these changes.

Sure enough, going into the third week of the Skinade 30 day trial, I was able to break out a favourite nail polish and get a ‘regular’ manicure. There was no need at all for gel or a shellac gel finish to strengthen my nails, they are already strong and the nails themselves are white.

Changes to my skin are more subtle, a brightened complexion (more noticeable, because my complexion usually ‘greys out’ in winter), and the tiniest softening of the lines around my eyes. I do think it would take a full 3 months to see a huge change to skin tone and texture, but I’m very pleased with the results I can see now.

However, the biggest improvement was with my hair – the natural ageing process, menopause and my underactive thyroid gland conspire to thin my hair and make it look dull and prone to breakage.

I have noticed that my hair is shinier and feels stronger. My hair didn’t miraculously grow in 4 weeks (although roots reappear two weeks after my hair’s highlighted, who are these women who only get their hair coloured every 8 weeks?) but it certainly looks thicker and feels healthier, I find this is a huge result for me and I’m very pleased.
