UPDATED: This Works* – Unlike my brain!

This Works Pillow Talk

Actually, I don’t know if it does work because I only collected this duo today. To say I was shocked and disappointed at the miniscule size of these two products is an understatement.

  • I was in a hurry
  • It was Boots 70% off sale (so I was in a hurry, but overly excited)
  • I read 5ml for 50ml
  • I thought the blue box was enormous
  • It just didn’t occur to me that the green bow was ‘festive’ and the product was just a stocking filler

I’ve always wanted to try the pillow spray, but thought it was over priced for what might just be lavender oil with a few extras thrown in. If I need a few drops of essential oil on the pillow to help me sleep, or in a bath, I use Tisserand Lavender Pure Essential Oil 9ml £5.70 Feel Unique

Deep Sleep Pillow Spray

Contains a blissful blend of Lavender, Vetivert and Camomile essential oils to encourage a restful ambience.

Spray your pillow or bed cover before you go to sleep. Use to promote rest and relaxation.

Deep Sleep Stress Less

Aromatherapy roller encourages clear breathing for a deeper sleep.

Apply to wrists or tissue and inhale the vapours.

I wasn’t too bothered about the roller (which I think, is the same product in roller form). I thought. I’m getting such a bargain with the spray, it’s like a bonus!

I got a sample (ARRGGHHH!) of this in a beauty box. And I absolutely love it so have bought a full size and recommended it to anyone I know that has trouble sleeping. I don’t actually suffer with sleeping but thought I’d try it seeing as though I had a sample (yeah, OK love, don’t rub it in!). Since using this product i have fallen asleep in seconds and woken up feeling refreshed.

When I use this I seem to be able to get to sleep quite quickly and on the odd occasion that I take longer, it seems to have a very calming effect and I am no longer anxious. The aroma of the essential oils is not overpowering and it does not leave any stains or residue on your pillows.

I have had trouble sleeping for the last 10 years – I received a sample (bah!) of these products and will never ever be without them, totally amazing. I now sleep for a good length of time, I still wake early but having slept feel awake and refreshed. Going to bed is now a pleasure not a pain!

So really, I paid £6.67 (a third off) for a couple of samples most people got for free *reaches for Stress Less Roller* However, I will start using them tonight use and report back here when they’re empty. Until tomorrow then!

The full size bottle of Deep Sleep is £16.00 for 75ml from Boots
(& £16.00 most other places online)
But £22.00 (with a 5ml sample roller ball) from the official This Works website
A steep price for a good night’s sleep!
Baby sized samples £6.67 Boots SOLD OUT (how?)

Horse is not life size

UPDATE: 12th February 2015

The good news is that, yes, it DOES actually work, the bad news of course, is that I paid far too much for a teeny weeny amount of product.

It takes me ages to fall asleep, but even then, I often wake up in the middle of the night (and spookily, a lot of times at exactly 4am). Anyway, I duly sprayed the pillow with the Deep Sleep spray and put a little squirt on the top end of the duvet, and…slept all night. I woke up feeling great, the way you do when you’ve had a really good night’s sleep.

Must be a fluke I thought, but no, for the FOUR days the spray lasted, I had the best 4 night’s sleep I’d ever had.

When it was empty, I hit on a great idea. Instead of using the Stress Less roller ball on my wrists, I’d roll it onto my pillow. I did originally think Pillow Sleep and Stress Less were the same formula, but they’re actually quite different.

Stress Less is an oilier, although not greasy, consistency. The slight herby/medicinal fragrance leans more to eucalyptus than lavender. It reminds me a little of Olbas Oil. It worked well though and I drifted off faster than I used to. It seems to last longer too, after 3 uses, I’ve only used up an eighth of product.

I’m seriously thinking about purchasing the full size bottle of Pillow Sleep, but oooh, £16.00 though, that’s an awful lot of money. Perhaps if I was an insomniac and desperate for sleep, I wouldn’t hesitate.

I’ll tell you what I definitely won’t do, and that is buy the spray with the roller ball from the official This Works website. £22.00 for the 75ml bottle and the 5ml roller, but £16.00 for the spray alone. That’s £6.00 for the roller ball. Nope, it’s not that good!

The pillow spray would make a thoughtful, (plus different and useful), present for someone in hospital, especially if they’re staying in long-term. Although, it’s probably not suitable a new mum, the scent might not agree with baby.

So, after moaning about the price of the pillow spray, I’m actually itching to try This Works Skin Deep Dry Leg Oil. The price for 120ml? £39.50 – It’s not exactly a budget range is it?

But, shins do tend to become dry and the skin thinner as we get older. I was with someone over 60, who hurt herself getting into a cab. The skin on her shins was not only dry and cracked, but alarmingly, paper-thin. It’s a good habit to start now and moisturise legs, especially shins and knees, on a daily basis to keep skin supple and hydrated.

Also, and I think I’d want this before summer hits us – Perfect Legs Skin Miracle 120ml £37.00.

Instantly enhances legs and helps combat skin imperfections, skin discolourations and scars.
A powerful complex of vitamin C and vitamin E to help even out skin tone and restructure the skin, while Arnica helps to fade bruising.
Immediately transforms the skin with a sun-kissed glow.*

*A bit like foundation for legs, it need to be rinsed off each night, although there is a gradual tan serum product as well.

Celebrity make-up artist Lisa Eldridge, is a huge fan of both products. I find Lisa’s videos and website entertaining, but dangerous viewing because I’m weak-willed, I want to buy every single thing she recommends.

I feel a Valentine’s Day hint coming on.
