This is a great calendar, thoughtfully curated with a good mix of The Body Shop’s best-selling products, much-loved classics, full-sized and travel sizes and a few surprise products you might not have thought about before.

It’s packaged in a big, heavy box with a pop-up festive scene and three drawers containing 25 gifts to open – which is as it should be, no measly ’12’ days of Christmas here.

All the calendars offer great savings if you were to buy the products individually of course. However, in this box, there are eight sets of coordinating products, so you could easily split them up for presents.

Made with 95% ingredients of natural origin, it only takes a couple of pumps of our new Edelweiss Liquid Peel to gently exfoliate and leave skin looking smoother, more luminous and feeling fresher.

The gel-to-peel texture gently lifts impurities, pollutants and dead skin cells to leave you looking fresh-faced and glowy. Did we mention It’s suitable for sensitive skin too?

REVIEW

This is a must-have not only for the face but to remove all traces of fake tan. Don’t be put off by the words liquid peel, it’s not a peel-off mask as I first thought – I’m never going there again. It’s a thin, opaque gel that’s applied to dry skin, massaged in and rinsed off.

It’s a little gunky to use, so I massage it in then rinse it off in the shower. It pills and turns into gross little balls of dirt and dead skin.

At first, you think maybe it’s just the product itself clumping up but if you ‘repeat’ an area, then you won’t get those bits the second time around.

If you’re lifting off something like fake tan, the balls change colour and turn orange. It’s a bit ‘eww’ but then the skin afterwards is silky smooth and brighter looking.

I also find it really effective to lift every bit of makeup from your face, even if you’ve double-cleansed and think you’ve removed all trace of foundation.

It’s very gentle and ideal as a ‘starter peel’ for sensitive skin. You don’t need much product either, just a thin layer.

All three of these would combine to make the most wonderful present or, because the scent is so divine, an indulgence to keep for yourself.

I would warn you though that the Mango Bath Blend looks and smells exactly like a mango smoothie, one to definitely keep in the bathroom.

The hand cream is very rich but absorbs well – you only need a tiny dot.

Like a lot of people, I absolutely love anything rose-scented, but it can’t be that artificial cloying rose scent you often find in products. Being The Body Shop, these are the real thing and I already know these face masks as I bought (myself) four of them – Himalayan, Coffee – that scent, Rose and Japanese Matcha Tea

I was wondering if I should mention that this rose mask is a viable dupe for Fresh UK’s gel Rose Mask because I’ve tried both and they’re very similar, in scent, texture and results. Then I had a look online and found I’m not the only one who thinks that.

I’m still not keen on the name, body yoghurt, it’s called that because of the consistency. It’s a hybrid of a body cream and a rich gel.

It smells divine and the rose scent actually lasts most of the day. I just wish it was in a more glamorous pot – not very ‘Body Shop’ of me I know.

A slick of our lip care stick will leave lips feeling instantly softer and hydrated, while a dollop of our hand balm leaves palms feeling soothed from dryness.

This rich and creamy double act is vegan and enriched with Community Fair Trade organic almond milk from Spain and shea butter from Ghana.

I’ve yet to try the night peel but I can confirm that the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask like the other masks is potent and packs a meaty punch. Just don’t apply the Nicaraguan Coffee or Himalayan ones in the bath (a bit gritty!) or use your muslin cloth to rinse it off because it will stain.

This face mask is thoroughly purifying and skin feels refreshed afterwards. When putting it on the skin does tingle a bit because of the tea tree oil but it also feels satisfying like it’s drawing out impurities. The mask is a bit messy as it’s got clay etc in it so you will need to scrub the sink after and be mindful of the towel you use as it may stain. Very good for oily skin like my own.

22. Boost Exfoliating Hand Wash 250ml

Leave hands feeling scrubbed and squeaky-clean with our palm and pinkie-polishing Boost Exfoliating Hand Wash.

Just squeeze out a dollop and rub your hands together under running water. It has a citrusy, zesty, sunny scent and leaves skin feeling cleansed, polished and revitalised.

I unwrapped this and thought, Oh OK, a handwash. An exfoliating handwash at that, but OK.

It wasn’t until I actually used it that I realised what a great idea it was. At first, it was just to wash off greasy residue from my hands after applying oily skincare, but the grains are just gritty enough to leave hands super soft afterwards and it lathers up well, one pump is all you need. It’s kept downstairs for everyone to use now.

The sharp and sweet notes of this fragrance are like slicing a big, juicy grapefruit in half.

Another best-selling classic. To me, pink grapefruit and bergamot are THE shower fragrances of the morning.

Unfortunately, Body Shop doesn’t have a bergamot shower gel – yet?

25. Camomile Cleansing Butter 20ml

Finally, a makeup remover I can work right into my eyelashes to remove all traces of waterproof mascara without any stinging or oily residue.

This makeup remover looks and feels like a soft hair wax with a barely noticeable scent. It is cased in a lightweight, recyclable aluminium tin with a screw-on lid.
