Tangle Teezer – Does what it says on the tin

Y ou’ve surely heard of the Tangle Teezer by now. If you haven’t got one and your hair is coloured or delicate, then I thoroughly recommended splashing out on one, although, it’s not cheap at £10.99.

Like a lot of people, I wasn’t entirely convinced that this wasn’t a bit of a gimmick when I first heard people talking about them, but I caved and bought one after my hair stylist at Toni & Guy used one to detangle my hair after highlights.

If you have coloured hair, or unruly hair that air dries too quickly after washing. Then you’ll know that one minute hair feels lovely and smooth from the copious amounts of conditioner you slathered on it in the shower, then, after the gentlest of towel dries, it goes all Helena Bonham-Carter on you.

I’m always worried about tearing my hair when it’s at its most fragile when damp, wide tooth combs do a fair old job but believe the hype, the Tangle Teezer does what it says on the tin.

Rejected by the television programme Dragons’ Den, (I remember that episode!) Shaun Pulfrey came up with the idea for the Tangle Teezer more than 15 years ago.

He says: ‘The brushes work because their specially designed teeth flex just the right amount to minimise tugging while smoothing the cuticle.’

I wouldn’t use this brush to distribute conditioning treatments through the hair, but it makes combing through and detangling hair after washing so easier, safe in the knowledge that you’re not damaging you hair or worse, pulling any out, we need to hold on to every precious strand!
