Way back in November (I wish I could rewind and enjoy Christmas all over again), there was a sample of Redken’s All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner given away as a magazine insert. I always try to make use of these freebies, because you never know when you might stumble upon a little gem.

As usual, the measly amount of product in the sachets was barely enough for a decent wash and condition.
My hair didn’t feel particularly smooth while I was washing it, and I couldn’t detect any noticeable ‘coating’ from the conditioner—or any distinctive scent, for that matter. However, once my hair had dried, it was silky, shiny and, yes, noticeably softer—and this was after using only a spoonful of product.
At first, I thought the effect might have been down to my beloved Charles Worthington Moisture Seal Hair Healer Leave-In Conditioner. But no—I experienced the same results using All Soft without any styling products whatsoever.
Impatient to give the shampoo and conditioner a proper trial, I skipped ordering online and headed to a salon, where I ended up paying far more than I should have for the full-sized versions. Word of advice: never buy hair products this way—you’ll be royally fleeced.
That said, these two All Soft products have genuinely transformed my hair. I know I should be using a clarifying shampoo now and again to remove product build-up, especially after using the same duo for this long, but I just can’t bear the idea of a bad hair day. I’m far too used to my hair looking silky and shiny.
There are other products in the All Soft range, but I’ve resisted so far. At last count, I had over 40 hair masks, creams, serums and treatments in my stash – which means my hair either looks incredible, or awful—depending on whether it’s been treated or simply overloaded. Plus, I’ve made a promise to myself not to buy any new hair products this year. Not really.
TIP
The oils in the formulations contribute to the softness, but if used sparingly, you’ll achieve softness without greasiness – plus you’ll get more for your money.
CONCLUSION
I highly recommend REDKEN All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner, especially for older, drier hair that’s been subject to years of dyeing and styling.
