REVIEW Philip Kingsley One More Day Dry Shampoo

REVIEW Philip Kingsley One More Day

If I have room in my handbag, I like to carry a small can of dry shampoo with me to touch up my fringe during the day. Any fringe wearer will tell you that fringes can become slightly greasy from make up, sweat (hot flashes!) etc and a quick spritz of dry shampoo will freshen it up. It’s also really useful to mop up oiliness if you’ve used too much product in your hair (been there so many times).

Before they started messing around with the scent (I find even the original, ‘Classic’ one has a stronger fragrance now), I used Batiste Dry Shampoo – cheap (£1.50 for 50ml) and cheerful and the brand I grew up with.

I then graduated to the slightly more expensive (£4.00 for 50ml) Klorane Oatmilk or Nettle formulations. The fragrances are less artificial and I was more than happy with them. Until that is, I bought the handbag size version of Philip Kingsley One More Day Dry Shampoo (£6.50 for 50ml – extortionate!) but honestly, it’s spoilt all other dry shampoo brands for me.

A lightweight spray that refreshes and soothes the scalp, absorbing excess sebum whilst providing volume and texture to the hair, leaving you ready for One More Day.

Packed full of soothing ingredients such as Zinc PCA, Allantoin and Bisabolol that cleanse the scalp; eradicating excess dirt, oil and odour, whilst helping to keep flakes and irritation at bay.

  • Shake well before use
  • Spray on dry hair at the roots, and brush through with a comb or fingers

The thing is, sometimes you DO get what you pay for. Of course I wasn’t expecting a shine, but what I did get was bounce with smoothness. It didn’t just absorb grease, it created a lasting fullness.

It’s not overly fragranced (if it is fragranced, because I can’t detect anything) and it doesn’t leave a powdery residue behind.

I actually used it when I was going out and knew I needed to wash my hair, but didn’t want to because it was really chucking it down and I knew my hair would get ruined. My hair looked really good and I even managed to spray a generous amount of Kérastase Styling Laque Noire over it without my hair going flat.

Wonderful product. Horrible, evil price.

This works. It isn’t the cheapest but it does the job and definitely gives an extra day without hair washing. Brilliant for freshening up a fringe. (A ha!)

Previous dry shampoos have always left my hair drab, sometimes stiff texture and often with a white-ish tinge as if talcum power’s been put on. One More Day is absolutely amazing for my hair. Hair never looks as if there is any product on it.

I didn’t expect too much of this. High Street brands do a good job of occasionally giving me an extra day between hair washes. But, actually, this IS a superior product. It smells better, but most markedly my hair feels soft and silky after using it. However clean my hair LOOKS when I use a cheaper product, it FEELS dry and clarty. This makes your hair FEEL genuinely clean.

This is a lightweight spray that refreshes your hair in between washes. Whilst absorbing excess sebum it also gives a bit of texture and volume to your tresses. You don’t get any dreaded grey hair streaks after use and compared to something like Batiste you don’t get any product build up.

My only worry is the price as I can go through a bottle of dry shampoo like quick sand. Reserved for a special occasion, or the weekend this is perfect and keeps my hair looking clean and full of colour and life.

I’ve been using mine daily since I got it, and not always as a traditional dry shampoo. It’s so lightweight and workable that I actually use it as a style prep on my freshly washed hair to give it a bit of shape and texture.

Lightly scented and you don’t get the dreaded ‘ flour head’ look when using it. But I am light blonde, however, the product is so light that it is my opinion that brunettes shouldn’t worry too much about chalky looking hair. My hair now tends to get oily, especially at the scalp, this product truly gives me one more day if I don’t want to shampoo daily, the effects last well and it brushes out easily.

I have also found the product is useful for adding texture to freshly washed hair on those days where it is perhaps a bit over conditioned, (I hear you!) great for beachy waves. This is the only dry shampoo that I have tried where I can actually see a difference. Very pleased with it.
