REVIEW: Origins Super Spot Remover Blemish Treatment Gel

Origins Super Spot Remover Blemish Treatment Gel

I’ve been thinking about my opening words to this review. Would it be over the top to boldly claim this is a ‘holy grail’ product that performs miracles? Would that be too much?

I bought Spot Remover a couple of months while ago, when I was stocking up on Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask, it’s what I reach for when my skin becomes super dry and needs a massive moisture boost.

I did write a ‘pre’ review post on the mask, but um.. didn’t get around to updating it. My updated review would read, apply at night and wake up with hydrated, super soft skin. Maybe all reviews should be so short and succinct?

So, I used a dab of Spot Remover on a fairly mediocre spot, forgot about it and put it back in the bathroom cabinet. The spot can’t have been very big, because I can’t remember anything else, no ‘wow’ moment.

Then last week, I – very naughtily, because it’s bad and wrong and could lead to scarring and infection, but hey, we all do it, squeezed what started out as little white head on my nose.

Reader, a red mist must’ve descended over me because I squeezed from every angle to try to tease out that little white dot, but, to no avail. There was a fair amount of blood, a lot of pain and redness, and then eventually, quite a lot clear liquid (serous fluid).

My poor nose was wrecked, the tiny white bump now a gaping, and bloody sore lump. I cleaned, dried it, stemmed the bleeding and knew that it was going to scab over and that I wouldn’t be able to conceal it. Never put make up on a healing wound, that’s a fast track to infection, but you already know that.

The antiseptic cream was downstairs in the First Aid box, so, rather than go down one flight of stairs, I grabbed the bottle of Origins Spot Remover, squeezed a couple of drops onto a cotton bud and applied it to the area instead. It didn’t sting, but it itched like crazy.

Now, here’s the miracle. The next morning, there was no redness, no dryness, no peeling, no sign of a bump; just the tiniest of scabs, like a full stop. In 5 days this fell off and underneath – nothing! No sign of any trauma.

Just a dab of blemish-busting Salicylic Acid instantly helps speed healing. While anti-spot technology helps visibly correct lingering discolouration.

Skin-calming Caffeine and Red Algae helps visibly relieve redness, super exfoliators eliminate excess oils and pore-clogging debris. For all skin types.

The ‘magic’ ingredient appears to be Salicylic Acid. Now, I had previously bought a bottle of Salicylic Acid 2% Solution for (£4.20 for 30ml) from The Ordinary skin care company, for one of my sons, but unfortunately, it made his skin break out very badly – sorry JJ!

I can only assume it must be the other ingredients in the Origins formula working in harmony that help makes Spot Remover so special.

It’s painful to part with £15.50 for a mere 10ml, and you obviously wouldn’t be using it regularly, so ‘cost per use’ would be high, but when you need something to work overnight, it delivers. A perfect product and highly recommended!

My daughter introduced me to this product. It’s pretty close to miraculous!

      Hi Elizabeth,
It really is. I had seen this product around for years, but just thought, how expensive for a spot treatment and why is it in such a little bottle? But it works!
