REVIEW: NYX Professional Makeup Eyebrow Powder Pencil

NYX Professional Makeup Eyebrow Powder Pencil

With brow bars still not open and my eyebrows looking full but patchy, I’ve been delving into my makeup pencils and rediscovering old favourites rejected in favour of their newer, fancier counterparts.

Of course, if you can get hold of Charlotte Tilbury’s Legendary Brows (click on image for review) then go for it.

But if you only want a temporary solution then the NYX eyebrow pencil is a solid budget alternative.

Our unique pencil’s superfine texture provides a powdery-soft, matte finish. Put the finishing touches on your arches by using the included spoolie brush to smooth out the rich colour. (Not with this spoolie you can’t.

There’s a variety of shades, but I think the colours are way off.

Ash Brown

Black

Blonde

Brunette

Espresso

Soft Brown

Taupe

I bought shade Blonde (Taupe must have been out of stock because I always opt for cool ashy tones) and though it’s a decent enough match and looks natural, it’s quite dark, more of a light brown shade. The colour of the lead bears absolutely no resemblance to the end colour either.

The spoolie is weirdy thick and bulky, plus it’s too short. I don’t understand get it, you can buy 100 disposable, long tapered spoolies for less than £3.00 on Amazon, why so mean NYX?

The ‘lead’ doesn’t sharpen to a razor-sharp point, which is good, it won’t scratch you which is usually a problem with cheap eye pencils. Also, these pencils don’t dry out. I can tell you that from personal experience because the lids at both ends had fallen off my one and it still glided on smoothly.

The pencil strokes aren’t too thin either, they’re just thick enough to draw in convincing hairs. Longevity is excellent and it doesn’t smudge either.

All in all, it’s a solid emergency buy.
