And so, my quest for the perfect mascara continues with DIOR Addict It Lash Fabulous Impact, Vibrant Colour Mascara. This is certainly a very different mascara AND wand, and I do like it, but I don’t love it. However, I think that if you wear false lashes or lash extensions, then you may love it.
I have a few issues with the flowery tones of the official description by Dior though:
Dior Addict It-Lash can transform the eyes in a single flourish for a fabulous impact, as if by magic. Oooh, drama!
With unconditional hold, easy to apply and easy to remove, it is the ideal mascara for women who want it all, and want it now. Who writes this stuff?
Its soft and supple elastomer brush coats the full length of lashes and the entire fringe for sensational volume. Fringe?
Its spiked tip catches even the tiniest lashes on the bottom and in the far corners, for that perfect doe eye. Agreed, you’re making sense now.
Its formula combines waxes that go on thick (thick? not really) with a clear gel base for pure and radiant colour. The colour does pop when it dries.
Rinsable, it is easy to remove with warm water or classic makeup remover. It doesn’t smudge either.
SHADES – WHERE’S BROWN?
Dior have been very stingy with the wand size, it’s awfully short at just 7cm. On the other hand, the fugly looking brush head is enormous at a massive 2.5cm. I’ve just read that the head is similar to Benefit’s They’re Real and I’ve checked and yes it is, plus the wand is short too – who’s copying who, I wonder?
Annoyingly, there’s no brown option, so the shade I bought is the grey/brown Plantine, although this might be a Limited Edition shade as not many sites appear to carry it.
Plantine is a stunning shade. It is so flattering and brings a softness to the whole eye area. Interestingly, it darkens down to very deep, intense grey as it dries.
The clunky brush head bristles are plastic and I think this is the way forward for all mascaras now. There’s zero clumping and not too much product on the head. What’s really impressive, given that the head is so big, is that it separates lashes perfectly, even after a second (or third) coat AND a touch up later in the evening.
To get into the tricky inner corners, turn the wand sideways and use the very tip of the brush, it’ll catch all the baby fine lashes, although I still wish the wand was just a tiny bit longer.
Reading the online reviews, people are generally agreeing that it does separate lashes beautifully. If you’re older, and your lashes are a little on the sparse side, this mascara might be the ideal solution. It coats the lashes well enough to stop them looking too skinny or spidery.
I didn’t really think it volumised my lashes much at all. It adds a little length, but not in a spectacular way.
My eyes water easily and I usually wear waterproof mascara to try to avoid the panda look. Even though this is a ‘rinsable’ mascara, it didn’t smudge or flake all day. What was also a surprise, is that my lashes, even after 3 coats, were still soft. I think that quite unusual for a mascara, the look stays natural to the end.
I love the colour of this mascara and the fact that it separates my lashes, which is the reason I think it would be a really good buy for those who wear false lashes or extensions. You would be able to coat them without clumps and lashes wouldn’t stiffen up and clog the false ones.
I can also see how you could easily create that ‘doe-eyes’ look Dior talk about in the blurb.
Would I buy it again though? At the moment, I’m not sure, I’ll wait until this one runs out and then decide.
