Lasting Perfection Concealer UPDATE

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

UPDATE: See end of article

I’ve been meaning to try Collection’s (they’ve dropped the ‘2000’ bit) full coverage concealer, Lasting Perfection, for a while now after reading YoungforGood’s extensive trial: 9 Concealers, 8+ hours: Is Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection the best concealer ever? < A must read!

Every time I went into boots, the ‘Fair’ shade was out of stock and the display always looked tired and grubby. You need to sort that Boots, just because it’s budget make up and mostly bought by teens, doesn’t mean you can neglect the stand.

  • Conceals flaws, imperfections and blemishes for up to 16 hours
  • Water-resistant
  • Transfer proof

FOUR SHADES (Ideally, you should test them in store)

  • Fair
  • Cool Medium
  • Warm Medium
  • Dark

I’ve been using this for quite a while and have repurchased it many times (in its old packaging). It gives great coverage and doesn’t cake, it can set into fine lines but I have found just dusting it with a setting powder helps that. It does not stay on for 16hrs let alone 7hrs, bit just a quick touch up would help with this. Also finish is very natural. I love this product very much.

This product really lives up to the ‘lasting perfection’ name. I have been using this product for a while now and I have gone through several of them and I am still amazed by this concealer! It lasts forever and it covers the worst of acne, a perfect product!

This great for the price, especially for the under eyes. However, for me, I suffer from acne and find it doesn’t cover redness up at much as I would like.

It’s so hard to find a good quality concealer for pale skin without becoming broke. I have pretty light skin and many concealers always looked way too orange for me. I saw loads of people rave about this and was quite late to join the band wagon but I’m so glad I did. It covers well, brightens my under eye area without being cakey or noticeable.

This concealer is amazing for the price. If you like thick high coverage concealer then this is for you. I don’t use it under my eyes as it creases too much but be careful when using it on the face as it can look really cakey if too much is applied apart from that, it’s a fantastic concealer.

It has very good coverage and it is amazing for covering up spots. They aren’t very noticeable after using this concealer. However it is too thick for under my eyes and very hard to blend. Don’t want to give myself fine lines just yet! It works with a foundation brush but I only like using a beauty blender or fingers for under eye concealer (doesn’t really work with this concealer).

This is definitely one of the best high street concealers (possibly THE best) and an absolutely fantastic price. I was always a bit wary of Collection products, because they are so cheap but beauty bloggers rave about this concealer, so I had to try it out.
The applicator is super handy for precise application and it is so opaque it covers up blemishes easily. It also lasts all day. The only problem I have with this range is the colour choices. It would be nicer if there were a few more shades, but the fair shade matches my skin with a little blending.

It’s creamy enough to use under the eyes, but still packs enough punch to cover blemishes. Lasts all day (when set with a light powder). Good shade range, I am very pale, but this in Fair works really well with my skin tone. The only negative is the packaging – the writing on the side of the tube melts and smudges all over your fingers. < Yes!

I gave this a go after everyone was talking about it. A great concealer for blemishes especially for the price. Very highly pigmented to cover any blemishes, doesn’t budge and has great lasting power. Too thick for the under eyes though. My only niggle is that the writing on the product wears off after a while, which is annoying.

This concealer is very good and I have purchased quite a few as it is my favourite concealer so far. I have the shade ‘Light’ as I am very pale. It covers dark under eye circles, redness and spots well. It has a liquid, creamy texture. However I have found that it creases under my eyes which is so annoying and it makes me look +100 years older.

This concealer is terrible on dry skin. It’s thick and hard to blend. The shade range is awful. It looks cakey and powdery and settles into fine lines. Would not recommend.

As I’m quite pale, I chose Fair, the lightest shade. It is just a tad too light for me, although I’ve read lots of reviews by pale skinned women who love it. I agree that the range should be extended to offer more colour choices, especially for darker skin tones.

As it is full coverage, with a thick liquid consistency, I suggest you use a concealer brush for application, instead of the wand (more hygienic too). Otherwise, you would end up with too much product and it would look cakey and heavy, the one thing you absolutely don’t want on your under eye area. Apply in light layers and build and blend.

It does a great job of concealing dark circles and stays put a full working day, which is important as I’ve never had any success reapplying concealer, I find it never comes out right. Lasting Perfection doesn’t smudge or worse, vanish and in this current heat that really is something.

As for blemishes, I’m not fully convinced. It could be because the colour was too light, but I didn’t find coverage anywhere near as good as Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer. It also didn’t cover up redness. For me, it’s perfect for the under eye area and for that reason I’m going to buy the ‘Cool Medium’ shade and of course, update this post.

On a negative point, I found that the tube clogged up at the top easily, when you screw the top back on, some product spills over. A wipe with a tissue after each use keeps the tube clean. Oh and yes, the black lettering does rub off!

UPDATE: 20th August 2014

I’m still loving this concealer, but I haven’t bought the ‘Cool Medium’ shade just yet because it’s a bit of a nightmare packaging wise. As I’ve said above, the top clogs up and you lose loads of product. It also makes a real mess in your make up bag. I had to replace mine once already. Although the one I use is the large M&S one here which is incredible value – 3 clear make up bags for £6.00, they’re well made too, not flimsy plastic.

It is a shame though, because, applied with a concealer brush, this really is a fab concealer and works exceptionally well on the under eye area. The packaging though, needs a serious rethink, but the question is, will they spend money on that when it’s such a cheap product anyway?

Thank you for this review. I was thinking of getting this for under the eye. I thought it may be too thick, you have confirmed it’s a no no for under the eye. Saved me from wasting my money! If you are free, please check out my blog with love Bhavi x
