I wrote a glowing review of NYX Professional Makeup Tinted Eyebrow Gel Mascara earlier this year (read it here) and I still stand by everything I said, but, like the sheep I am, I bought Legendary Brows out of sheer curiosity while I was at the Charlotte Tilbury counter.
I was replenishing my stocks of Rock ‘n’ Kohl Eye Cheat (review). I love this pencil, but it’s so soft, it runs out fast (so keep it in the fridge) and gunks up the length of the pencil no matter how many times I wipe it down, I also bought Champagne Eyes and Lip Cheat Supersize Me – Pillow Talk’s older, more sophisticated sister.
Legendary Brows is an eyebrow gel and the shade Brigitte, is recommended for blonde, light brown or red hair.
There are 3 other shades, including a mythical ‘clear’ one, which is permanently out of stock both online and in stores. Frankly, I don’t believe it even exists and Charlotte is just playing with us. KEY FEATURES:
- Enriched with volumising Magic Elasticizing Wax, nourishing Vitamin E, strengthening Castor Oil and natural pigments that lift and tint
- Shapes, sculpts and adds structure to your brow
- Never makes your brows look ‘pencilled in’ or ‘stuck down’
- The unique Micro-Fine Miracle Precision brush evenly coats, shades and grooms every hair, even ‘baby’ hairs
- Ideal for eyebrows that are too thin or too light, over-plucked or patchy
The hype is real, but the price is high – 1.3g of product for £18.50, it’s hard to swallow.
REVIEW
I can’t understand how other makeup brands didn’t think of designing this dainty, doll-size eyebrow wand before. It grips and coats every last baby-fine eyebrow hair, perfect for less than lush eyebrows. Although, I’m sure I’ve seen a lower lash mascara wand that’s this small.
The formula can be built up and the shade Brigitte strikes the right balance between ash, blonde and taupe. It’s extremely flattering and brows never look overdone, even with numerous coats.
Longevity is good too because it lasts all day. It keeps brows flat and there’s no crispy feeling.
If I have one little complaint, it’s that it’s very light in the hand. A little weight at one end would make application that bit easier.
CONCLUSION
If you’re under 40, then you don’t really need this product. Let’s be real, you can get cheaper eyebrows gels that will do the same job.
But, if your eyebrows are thinning and sadly, that happens as you get older, or perhaps you’ve overplucked them, or they’re sparse because of illness, then Legendary Brows is worth the splurge.
If it was just the brush size, then perhaps you could get a similar one from a professional make up store, but it’s the brush and the formula that makes this one a winner. This is definitely a product to add to your anti-ageing arsenal.
