It took me a while to figure out how to use this corrector properly.
I had to get my head around a colour corrector – surely that’s what a good concealer does?
Not quite. When shadows (or blemishes, discolouration etc) are too dark to be covered by concealer, then a corrector steps in to brighten and neutralise the darkness. A concealer on top can then bounce light to that area.

HOW TO USE
- Apply Corrector as close as possible to the lash line, and also on the innermost corner of the eye.
- Gently blend with your fingers.
- Layer concealer directly over the Corrector.

My under eye dark circles – more evident when I’m tired, come and go, and Too Faced ‘Born This Way’ concealer takes care of them.
But I have dark inner corner eye areas which have got progressively more noticeable as I’ve got older. Ageing and menopause have combined to thin this already delicate area which show up the blood vessels underneath, hence the blue or brown colour.
The only thing that covers them up completely is the Bobbi Brown Corrector. I chose the palest of the Peach shades, Pale Porcelain.
The shades in the Bisque (pink) concealer family are for blue/purple darkness, and the Peach for brown/grey darkness. There is a decent variety of shades to suit most skin tones.
Bobbi Brown have a returns policy for ‘not the right shade’ foundation (which I’ve used and it’s hassle free, no questions asked) and I think it’s the same for concealers.
I don’t apply it under my eyes – although I did the first few times and I got that sunglasses/panda eyes look which I didn’t notice until I got into work.
So now I only use it on my inner corners and I gently dab it on it on with my ring finger. I try to get enough product in my finger for one application. You can build the layers, but there’s always the risk of going too far and this area doesn’t take kindly to product overload.
I don’t always need concealer on top because the corrector cancels the darkness and brightens the inner corners which is exactly what I need.
As with most Bobbi Brown products, it’s highly pigmented (which is something you can always rely on). The texture is very slightly creamy, yet solid and it doesn’t crease or melt away.
I’ve had the corrector for a couple of months – so it’s had a good road test, but there’s no sign of it drying out, or that I’ve made much of a dent it.
It’s not cheap, but in my opinion, it’s a good buy. Just nail the shade and you’re good to go.
