OFFER Alice Hart-Davis Ageless Beauty Box NEW UPDATE

I love a good beauty box, but they’ve been very hit and miss lately. I won’t commit to a regular subscription service without knowing exactly what I’m going to get. Contents vary too much from month to month – no one wants sample vials of perfume you can get over the counter at Boots for free, or drag queeny false eyelashes, those are filler items and we know it!

I was on the wait list for Caroline Hiron’s Cult Beauty Box, but when the email came through to order it, (and I was fortunate enough to get an email early on), I procrastinated too much over the £195 price tag and of course, they were sold out in the blink of an eye and everyone loved them – Humph!

If I don’t want to try at least 3 of the products in a beauty box, then I just won’t bother. This anti-ageing box by beauty writer Alice Hart-Davis, has 5 products I quite fancy, so I’ve just ordered one. I have ordered from All Boxed Up before and their delivery times are a bit funky to say the least, so it’ll be interesting to see how long this one takes to arrive.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream (57.6g) RRP £9.00

If you have any patches of really dry skin that need emergency moisture, this lovely cream will help. It is very hydrating without being greasy, and it’s really gentle even on sensitive skin, so you can use it anywhere that needs it from your knees or elbows to your cuticles.

Interesting. I’ve seen some decent reviews on Look Fantastic, including this one:

It has worked wonders on areas of psoriasis I have, virtually clearing them where steroid cream has failed.

BioEffect EGF Serum (3ml) RRP £30.00

This is magic in a bottle – and extraordinarily effective. The key ingredient is Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), which makes older skin cells behave like sprightly young ones, so skin becomes firmer and better hydrated and, yes, looks younger. It’s a tiny bottle but you only need one drop to cover the whole face, so this should last you for three weeks.

This is worth the cost of the box! I’ve used this serum before. To make the most of the 3ml bottle, I suggest only using a precious drop around the eye area in a gentle patting motion. The ‘slip’ is good, but one drop for the whole face spreads it too far. Concentrate that one drop on the eye area only.

Olay Regenerist Regenerating Moisture Night Cream (50ml)  RRP £21.49

Olay’s Regenerist creams are some of the best-loved and best proven in the world. There’s a stack of skin improving technology in here including Olay’s pentapeptides for skin repair and niacinamide to help boost skin energy. You could use this at night while you use the BioEffect serum in the morning, or if you skin is particularly dry, you could layer this over the serum at night-time for an extra boost of moisture.

I’ve never tried an Olay product, I want to see what all the fuss is about.

Hand Chemistry – Intense Youth Complex (30ml) RRP £7.99

A cut or 10 above your average hand cream, this has almost 20 per cent active ingredients to help improve the firmness, evenness and density of your skin – and keep it smooth and moisturised, too. If you ask me, this formula is plenty good enough to be used as an anti-ageing face cream but seeing as you’ve already got two top-notch facial skincare products in here, keep this for your hands, it’s a real treat.

Meh! I’ve got a lot of hand creams…

St.Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower (200ml) RRP £14.50

Here’s a brilliant innovation which makes the whole business of self-tanning super-easy: an in-shower tanning cream. You apply it on wet skin, massage it in and wait three minutes, then rinse it off and carry on with the rest of your day while a subtle glow of colour begins to develop. No smell, no fuss, and you can build up the colour until you’ve lost that winter pallor.

I keep meaning to buy this!

Studio 10 Visible Lift Face Definer (9.3g) RRP £30.00

This lovely chic palette contains an innovative and easy-to-use contouring kit. There’s a soft, matte sculpting powder, a highlighter with a flattering gold undertone and a very pretty blusher which gives a youthful flush of colour and works on any complexion – and there are online how-to videos online that show you how to do it.

Studio 10 have some decent products, again, this is something I look forward to trying.

Nails Inc Nail Polish – Elm Park Gardens (14ml) RRP £14.00

For the finishing touch, give your nails pop of pink polish with this lovely colour from Nails Inc, which will help you feel that spring is on the way. The small print on the front points out that the formula is powered by pomegranate oil – which is there to protect the nail plate and promote nail health.

This is a gorgeous, wearable colour. I love that there isn’t a disclaimer (at least I haven’t seen one!) saying they have the right to substitute the shade due to limited stock, blah blah – it’s always some horrible mint green shade as well.

Great shade for Spring, especially with that St Tropez tan!

Alice Hart-Davis Ageless Beauty Box – All Boxed Up £21.99 (inc. P&P)

8th April 2016

UPDATE 22nd APRIL 2016

You could die of old age before this box reaches you! 14 days down the line and still no box. That’s the only problem with All Boxed Up, it takes them ages to send them out.

The offer is still available on the above link, which surprises me, because it is very good value. Obviously they can’t use ‘excessive demand’ as an excuse, so finger out, All Boxed Up, I’m waiting!

UPDATE 8th May 2016

The box finally arrived on Wednesday and they had not only substituted the one item I really wanted, Studio 10 Face Definer, with 3 products from Bellapierre (previously seen in boxes from August 2015 and October 2015), which I certainly don’t want, but they also replaced Nails Inc Elm Park Gardens with South Moulton Street, a sickly baby pink shade.

By way of  consolation, they threw in a shimmery chocolate bronze Leighton Denny nail polish. Too dark for summer you say? Indeed, it was left over from their Christmas 2015 box…

This happened to a friend of mine as well and she is pretty annoyed at it too. Doesn’t seem fair they can substitute the main attraction with a much lesser product!

There’s a lot of us about! The fact that they substituted wth stuff from the old boxes really gets my goat. Plus I ordered as soon as I saw the offer and it’s still going strong!
