You might have heard about the risks of High-Energy Visible Light, HEVL from your optician. Research has shown that this high-frequency light in the violet/blue spectrum can damage the retina and contribute to the degeneration of eyesight. It’s certainly something to look out for when buying your next pair of sunglasses.
What you may not know, is that this third light ray has been shown to be just as harmful to our skin as UVA and UVB.
Launching on 15th July is HEVL SPF50 Face Crème by Skin Shop.
This cream contains a new patented ingredient called Liposhield™ which offers 3-spectrum protection against UVA, UVB and HEVL.
HEVL is responsible for 50% of the oxidative stress from sun exposure which is equal to the amount generated by UVA (46%) and UVB (4%) combined. It can cause wrinkle formation and premature ageing and can cause uneven skin pigmentation.
The cream is light and non-greasy, which is an important factor when applied under foundation. You want skin protected, but still be able to breathe and not make your foundation look cakey or shiny.
It’s skin toned, so you can wear it on its own for a sheer wash of healthy looking colour.
Thanks to newspapers, magazines and the internet, we’re educated enough to know that sun exposure is the number one cause of skin ageing.
That said, a small amount of sun on unprotected skin (about 10-15 minutes, before 11.30am or after 3pm, three times a week), is actually good for us. Sunshine helps our bodies produce vitamin D. This valuable vitamin is needed to strengthen bone and muscle and boost our immune system.
Ageing comes to us all eventually, you really don’t want to accelerate the process, act now and get into the habit of applying SPF50 every day. It’s a small change that will benefit your skin in years to come.
