Lip Cheat Lip Liner Pencils: I love you, I hate you.

Although I mostly love you.

Maybe I’m just being incredibly picky and moany*, but I’m not overly happy with the ‘wood’ part of Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat Lip Liner pencils.

I think it’s a cheap wood, chosen because of its pale colour and perhaps the ‘glam’ factor it brings to the collection.

It just doesn’t sharpen well and because it is relatively soft (although it does have incredible staying power, I can’t deny that and the shades are highly pigmented), it does blunt quickly and needs frequent sharpening.

In fact, I cut the corner of my mouth (and you know how much that hurts), because of the splintery edges.

Compare the wood to the Body Shop’s Lip Liner pencil on the right, in a similar shade called Beech, (which I also love and is half the price by the way). You can see that the darker wood cuts cleaner, without any jagged edges.

It’s just a small niggle and it won’t stop me buying a replacement pencil in Pillow Talk (I was nearly at the end, and the ‘lead’ broke and fell out, see below) and I’ll probably buy Crazy in Love and or Pink Venus.

While I’m at it, I’ll more than likely get the ‘official’ Charlotte Tilbury pencil sharpener and see if it sharpens the pencil in a different way (bet it doesn’t).

*Expensive rant!
