REPOST: Keep Cool at Night

COOL MENOPAUSE

This hot and sticky weather is no fun at night.

Remember going on holiday (particularly somewhere exotic) and skipping down the plane steps into a shimmering wall of heat? This is currently what it feels like in the UK. Only without the ‘fun holiday’ bit.

However, there is a solution. Read on and keep your cool.

Now, it’s not the most elegant solution, but it absolutely works. I first did this when I was suffering from night sweats during menopause and thought I was going to melt into the bed.

  • Take one clean tea towel, a thin cotton, or linen one is best.
  • Rinse it in cold water.
  • Wring it out just enough so it doesn’t drip.
  • Lie down.
  • Place over lower legs.
  • AND SLEEP!

I promise it will cool you down instantly.

A fluffy towel won’t work as it’s too heavy. I used one of those heavier ‘glass cloth’ towels once and it worked a bit too well, I was chilled to the bone!

Top tip! My legs get so fidgety in this heat!

      I know, me too!

I draped the muslin cloths over each foot last night and I was too cold!

Used this when I was sweltering in Rome in September 2013. Saved my sanity – thanks again!

      You’re welcome Julie.

I got married in Rome in October (1990!) and it was boiling hot, I wish I knew about this tip then!
