NEWA vs Collagen Wave Therapy

NEWA Beauty Tool

This is an update to my review of the NEWA Beauty Tool – full review here.

So, I’m reading about a beauty treatment loved by celebrities including Amanda Holden in particular, who, it must be said, has been looking rather incredible lately, called Collagen Wave Therapy.

Collagen Wave Therapy is a well known salon treatment that’s been around for years; but where celebrities lead, mere mortals are sure to follow, and this facial treatment has suddenly become much sought after.

Hailed as a painless and safer i.e. non invasive, alternative to Botox.

This is how it works: Using radio frequency waves combined with ultrasound waves to heat up the deeper layers of the skin to encourage the production of new collagen.

A gel is applied to the face and the beauty therapist glides a wand shaped probe (like a mini curling iron), which is warmed to 40 degrees, (the ideal temperature to stimulate skin to produce more collagen), over the client’s skin and delivers radio frequency energy which is transmitted into the skin.

Clients may notice an immediate firming effect, but are advised to undertake a course of 3 to 10 treatments. Prices start from £125.00 to £250.00 per treatment, but results may last up to two years.

Something sounded very familiar, radio frequency, heating layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production…and then I realised something.

The Newa Beauty Tool incorporates 3DEEP™ technology, a multi-source, phase-controlled radio frequency energy used by dermatologists.

Newa works by delivering energy 3 layers deep into your skin, reactivating the natural collagen producing process.

It seems to me that the principal and treatment is almost the same. The Newa uses very similar technology (albeit without the ultrasound waves).

At £350.00 for the Newa device which includes a full-sized gel (which retails for £30.00 a tube), it’s the cost of two Collagen Wave Therapy salon treatments.

Of course, there are differences, the Newa can’t be used over the eye area or on the neck, but it’s ideal if you’re looking for a device to firm up the jowl area and improve the texture of your skin at a fraction of the cost of a salon based Collagen Wave Therapy treatment.
