FUL is a new luxury hair care range from the people behind the achingly glamorous Live True London hair salons.

Their Instagram is full of young people with long, shimmering, glossy hair. The thing is, those of us over forty (or above) want that too, no matter our hair length.

FUL was created with input and testing from over 60 top hairdressers – including global artists, professionals in product development and runway hairdressers for the world’s top fashion brands.

We listened, tested and formulated our products to perform to their exacting standards and we are proud of our strong hairdressing heritage.

We listened to feedback from thousands of hairdressing customers to understand what was important to them, what their current at home products were lacking and how we could make professional hair care easier to use at home.

FUL hairmaskOf course, I HAD to have this best-selling hair mask. The reviews are excellent and it’s the one used in their salons as their deep conditioning treatment.

I haven’t used this mask yet because I had my hair highlighted at the weekend and I want to keep that salon blow-dry for as long as possible. But I will be using it first as an overnight mask.

It has a thick cream consistency and is housed in a plastic tub – perfect for the shower. I don’t do glass in the bathroom anymore after a very expensive accident.

The scent is luxurious but not overpowering, with just a subtle nod to jasmine. It reminds me of walking through Selfridge’s beauty hall and catching a delicious whiff of fragrance.

A detoxifying and nourishing scalp treatment. The FUL Detox Scalp Treatment works to moisturise and nourish the scalp, helping banish dry flaky skin.

Formulated with Turmeric and Aloe Vera to soothe inflamed and irritated scalps.

On damp, towel-dried hair, apply FUL Detox Scalp Treatment to the roots and massage gently into the scalp.

Leave for 5 minutes and rinse.

Use once or twice a week and pair with your favourite FUL Shampoo and Conditioner for the ultimate scalp reset.

FUL detox
I’ve mentioned on here a few times about the importance of scalp health. It’s necessary to not only remove product build-up but also stimulate the hair follicles and get the blood flowing.

You can use the tips of your fingers to massage in the product but a brush will give your scalp a more vigorous workout.

The problem with a lot of these brushes is that the bristles are too hard, FUL’s version has good reviews saying it’s gentle on the hair and again, it’s used in their salons.

I look after my hair and it’s in very good condition for, and I quote a well-meaning hair stylist who blow-dried my hair for the first time, ‘…someone your age.’

The reason I throw a lot of money at my hair is that it grows fast and to keep the dreaded black roots streaked with white *shudder* at bay – which start to appear two weeks after I’ve had it done, it needs to be coloured ie highlighted far too frequently.

When those first white strands appeared they were coarse and wiry, but somehow I’ve managed to conquer that and they’re softer and straighter now.

My hair has always been fine but there was a lot of it. Recently, I’ve noticed that it feels a bit thinner.

I’m trying all the cosmetic fixes I know of before it gets out of hand:

  • Scalp massage and detox treatments as above.
  • Body-building shampoo – I’ve got a great one but don’t know if it’s still being sold as it’s a million years old. I only found it when clearing out my hair products, so I will check before recommending it.
  • Silk scrunchies at night.
  • Tangle Teezer for Fine and Fragile hair £100.00 Look Fantastic * HUGE fan. My hair dries in nanoseconds and then knots up.
  • Rich hair mask treatments.
  • Washing my hair only once or twice at most a week, and this from someone who used to wash – and hence blow dry their hair EVERY day! I confess it always looked good.

I’m looking at the Hyaluronic Acid Hair Serum and the purple hair mask.
