Sometimes I feel like a big old enabler saying buy this, buy that, it’s great! But I believe in the products and devices I recommend. This one though is a bit different as I’ve not used it before and I’m a little hazy on how it works.
Like you, I’m just trying to hold back the hands of time without surgical intervention. The only reason I don’t go down the injectible route is that I have a fear of needles. Otherwise, I could see how a little Botox or filler would help improve some of my ageing niggles.
Using anti-ageing devices is boring and time-consuming, but, you have to use them regularly to see and maintain results. I find the only way to stave off boredom is by reading reviews of the latest products and gadgets as I’m doing my treatments. I tend to read online reviews from retail sites ie real people who have actually bought the products.
I had of course seen the small, strange-looking circular Foreo device all over the net, but didn’t pay that much attention to it. As far as I could tell it was a little gadget designed to supercharge face masks. The price seemed prohibitive, over £100.00 and up to £249.00 for the latest model, so I dismissed it outright.
Reader, I have just bought FOREO UFO 2 Power Mask Treatment Device for £169.00 from John Lewis. It had been out of stock for a couple of weeks, but I received a notification a few moments ago and I’ve justified the cost because it’s my birthday next month. This thing had better work.
I really don’t feel too bad because I’ve seen what I think is the same one on sale at Cult Beauty and Selfridges for £249.00.
Why are they all called slightly different names? I hope it’s the same one.
FOREO UFO 2 POWER MASK TREATMENT DEVICE
Get excited for UFO 2, an app-connected mask device that gives you the skin of your dreams in only 90 seconds.
Fit for all skin tones, types, and ages, UFO 2 will help you target specific skin conditions and boost its radiance. This Swedish device combines potent Korean-inspired masks with ultra-fast warming, cooling, T-Sonic pulsations, and 8 LED lights to infuse the essence deep below the skin s surface.
Choose the mask your skin needs and enjoy hydrated and firm skin.
HOW TO USE
Simply lift the plastic holder and place your chosen mask over the smooth copper side of the device, securing it with the plastic. Then use the app to set off the pre-prepared programme. I mean, it seems easy enough.
LED LIGHT PROGRAMMES
Red LED – stimulates the production of collagen and elastin to firm and lift skin. This restorative LED (light-emitting diode) diminishes fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of ageing as well as bolstering the skin’s healing process.
Blue LED – minimises imperfections, destroys P. acnes bacteria to stop breakouts and stabilises overactive oil production. Blue light also mitigates inflamed acne and lesions.
Green LED – evens out skin tone, brightens dulled complexions and softens age spots, dark circles and other discolourations.
White LED – is the longest wavelength and reaches deeper into the skin than any other colour. White LED tones and tightens the skin, reduces puffiness, activates the skin’s natural renewal system and produces a general rejuvenating effect.
Purple LED – is a combination of red and blue light that helps eliminate toxins, boost radiance, calm inflammation and accelerate healing.
Orange LED – eases sun damage and revitalises skin for a healthy glow.
Yellow LED – soothes sunburn, softens rosacea, combats swelling and improves overall skin tone.
Cyan LED – is an anti-inflammatory bluish-green light that calms stressed-out skin. It has been proven to promote healing, reduce the size of swollen capillaries and reduce pain.
Flash Thermotherapy – delivers heat to your face 5x faster than the original UFO. Warms to 45˚C (a temperature that proven to optimise penetration of creams, serums and essences)
Flash Cryotherapy – cools to 5˚C to reduce puffiness, minimise pores, lift, firm and soothe inflammation.
T-Sonic Power – with up to 10,000 sonic pulsations per minute, these soundwaves gently massage to relax underlying facial tension, improve detoxification, smooth the appearance of lines and enhance the absorption of treatments and creams.
Wow. I mean, come on! That sounds amazing.
The outlay doesn’t stop with the device, you have to buy the masks that go with it as the device only comes with one measly mask.
A box of 6 costs £18.99, although CurrentBody has a selection of six masks for £16.00
I read that some people get two passes out of each mask and some are even using their own sheet masks with the device, I’ll have to check that out, I don’t want to mess up the app.
I’ve also done a bit of research and the most highly rated masks are:
- Youth Junkie – Going to buy this one (This is really popular. John Lewis didn’t have it in stock)
- H2Overdose – Bought
- Glow Addict – Bought (selling out fast though)
- Bulgarian Rose -Bought
- Green Tea – Will probably buy at some point
CHEAPER UFO VERSIONS
The differences between UFO 1 and UFO 2 is that 2 heats up faster, but more importantly, it has the full spectrum of LED lights, this is a huge selling point for me.
