The government has accepted the use of vaginal mesh implants to treat complications after childbirth should be stopped immediately to prevent further risk of “life-changing and life-threatening injuries” to women.
Women relied on these implants to help ease the symptoms of stress urinary incontinence and vaginal discomfort. They were badly let down, with reports of the plastic mesh disintegrating, stiffening, or cutting into organs.
