Caitlyn Jenner – You don't HAVE to say you love her.

I meant to write this post a few weeks ago when Caitlyn Jenner was ‘officially’ introduced to the world. From an anti-ageing point of view, I wanted to point out how amazing she looks for 65. But then I thought, oh, it’s probably just surgery, expert make up and lighting and yes, of course, to a certain extent it is.

Then I saw photos of her out and about without the aid of Photoshop and blurry filters and whoa, she still looks great!

Caitlyn’s gender transition has been a very public (as part of the infamous Kardashian clan, it had to be), journey for her and while the response has been overwhelmingly positive, there are people who can’t and won’t accept a born male’s transition to female. And you know what? That’s OK too.

I can’t understand why certain celebrities have suffered a backlash because they have ‘dared’ to tweet (and then delete), their negative opinion of Caitlyn. Be it for personal or religious reasons, as long as they aren’t being antagonistic or openly hostile towards transgender people, then why should they have to bow down to popular opinion and apologise for their beliefs?

Surely the idea of being transgender and ‘living the life you were meant to live‘ means you need be true to yourself and not conform to other people’s ideals and opinions? That has to run both ways. A different point of view isn’t wrong, it’s different. Celebrities, fandoms and the media have too much power and they’re not using it in a positive way.

One thing that is crystal clear however, is that if you have enough money, you can turn an average looking 65-year-old into a full on glamour puss.

PS The photo of the undeniably very beautiful, Elizabeth Hurley, on set (playing ‘Helena, the Queen of England’ no less), and being mistaken for Caitlyn Jenner is too funny for words. Liz, time for an image overhaul?
