Readers, I give you, Julia Roberts – 45, Sharon Stone – 55 and Goldie Hawn – 67. Admittedly, they’re all Hollywood stars with access to the best beauty treatments and services available, but note how they all still look like themselves. I’m not going to speculate on what procedures they may or may not have had (I’m sure Botox is in the mix somewhere), but they’re three shining examples of the art of subtlety, none of them have overdone it.

Yes, they all started off as beauties with gorgeous bone structure, but so did a lot of other actresses, young and old, and, feeling the pressure to stay beautiful, have now ruined their faces trying to turn the clock back. A lot of once beautiful stars now look like parodies of their former selves. Overdosing on Botox, fillers and ill-advised face-lifts can have the opposite effect and these three illustrate that it doesn’t always have to be that way.

I actually think Julia has got better looking with age. She is absolutely stunning here. Ewan scrubs up rather nicely as well.

Julia’s legs in particular are amazing.  Gwynnie, eat your heart out!

As a side note, why are the hems always so badly turned up at film premieres? I appreciate the dresses may be decided upon and altered at the last-minute but the least they could do is run an iron over them. I sound like my mum, I know.

Oh and I was told the the reason a lot of celebrities’ shoes are too big for them, is that they’ve been loaned to them as well. Clothes can be altered (usually quite shoddily), but shoes of course can’t.

Sharon, doesn’t always get it right, make up wise. In fact, she often gets it very badly wrong with hard looking, too dark make up, but she’s absolutely glowing in the featured picture.

Here though, in another recent photograph, she very much looks her age. Notice the less defined jaw line and the onset of jowls. The sun damage (much as with Goldie, doesn’t help a lot either).

Jowls disappear when you smile, but we can’t go around grinning like fools all day so I’ll be looking further into (non invasive) and hopefully, not too expensive, treatments for the dreaded jowl/saggy jaw syndrome.

So there you have it, three Hollywood beauties in their 40’s, 50s and 60s without pillow cheeks, puffy lips or scarily stretched skin – it can be done!

Julia looks absolutely amazing. On a related note, I’m noticing how awful (due to surgery, bad botox etc) some ageing male stars are looking too. I just don’t get how they don’t see how bad it looks.

I absolutely agree, you’re inspired me to do a post on that very same subject!
