REVIEW: CHARLOTTE TILBURY CITIES LIP DUO (ON OFFER TOO)

CHARLOTTE TILBURY CITIES LIP DUO

I didn’t know Charlotte Tilbury did sales! There’s one on at the moment with some items at 40% off. It seems to have been going for some while, because it’s ending in a few days.

I’ve missed some gems ie the beauty advent calendar, skin care set, Filmstar Bronze and Blush Glow set and a clear Legendary Brows for £11.20. Agony!

I’ve been good though and only purchased the two lipsticks I had already tested in store. The online swatches are still a little hit and miss, but at least this time I wasn’t buying blind.

CITY-INSPIRED LIPSTICK DUO – was £48.00, now £28.80

Matte Revolution in English Beauty: A pretty, nude pink matte lipstick, in a wearable, modern matte formula.

K.I.S.S.I.N.G in American Sweetheart: A tawny pink lipstick in the signature glossy formula for a buildable lip look.

Both lipsticks can still be bought separately at 40% off, £14.40 each.

ENGLISH BEAUTY

I’m not really a nude lip kinda gal, Pillow Talk and Bitch Perfect are as neutral as I get. I don’t like matt lips, so I always knew I was going to blend English Beauty with a glossy lipstick. Defeats the purpose of a matt, but I really liked the colour.

English Beauty is deceiving to look at, it’s not brown, but a cool toned pink nude, a beat up from fail safe Pillow Talk which is a brown nude. I wear it under Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipstick in shade 62, Monte Carlo. I don’t trust Chanel not to suddenly discontinue it, so I’ve squirrelled away 6 tubes. I can’t wear it on its own, it’s too bluey bright pink on me, so I mix it with other shades.

The Matt Revolution formula (always smooth to apply), locks down the base and with Monte Carlo on top, turns it into a flattering face brightening, mid toned pink.

AMERICAN SWEETHEART

Is it just me who thinks tawny means brown? This is definitely leaning towards a pinky peach. But it’s not really peach, it’s almost like the colour of the inside of your bottom lip – actually, if Charlotte could produce those shades for all skin tones, they would be instant best sellers. Remember, you read it here first!

I can actually wear this one on its own, which is rare for me. You do need to up your blusher game though, this shade lends itself to more of a glam look.

I was trying to match swatches to the ‘real life’ shades of both lipsticks, but I think the photo below of the bullets is the most realistic representation of each colour.

REVIEW: CHARLOTTE TILBURY CITIES LIP DUO

Out of all the Charlotte Tilbury products, I think the lipsticks are the best value. The quality is undeniable. The matt ones don’t drag or feel drying, and the creamy KISSING lipsticks are smooth to apply and feel moisturising.

No one ever complains that they wear unevenly, because they don’t, they’ll be no ring of colour around your mouth by the end of the evening. The pigments leave a strong ‘stain’ underneath, and the shade choice is vast enough to suit all skin tones.

The sale is still on (at 10/8/18) with lip shades from nudes to pinks, to Perfect Berry (super glam for darker skin tones). Plus, a Bronzed Beauty kit – the shade Hot Emily looks rather interesting…
