Eek! I’m moving to self-hosted WordPress

domenico-loia-featureThis is scary! Well, scary(ish). A company – whose name I will insert here when it’s all over and perfecto, are doing it for me.

It will still be on WordPress, still unfadingbeauty but it will look very different.

Hopefully, I’ll have a few tasteful ads dotted around to help pay for the monthly upkeep of self-hosting (how the flip do those things work anyway?) A new theme, more control over the look of the blog, clever widgets (whatever they may be) – all good stuff.

I first wanted to self-host a couple of years ago when someone, as a compliment, said they loved my site because it was cosy. Cosy. Um OK. Did they mean old-fashioned per chance?

Will it look like every other blog out there? Marble backgrounds, flat lays, pretty pastel things, fresh flowers, the odd ‘inspirational’ quote in curly gold italics? Yes, probably! But the content will be the same, reviews as honest as I can make them.

Moving it over is simple enough – because someone else is doing it, trying to adapt my current posts and deciding on a final look will take longer. My photography skills are zero. Mark bought me a fancy new camera 7 weeks ago and I’m still on page 3 of the manual.

But I’m doing it (finally) and I’m excited!

Because bloggers should help each other out, we’ll leave the cut throat bickering to the big guns.
