REVIEW: Alpha H – The Essentials Kit

Alpha H The Essentials Collection

Alpha H is an award-winning Australian skincare company who rely on word of mouth from end users to advertise their products instead of big budget ad campaigns.

Alpha-H creates revolutionary cosmeceutical formulations, which help bridge the gap between the beauty counter and invasive treatments.

Most of you will have heard of their now legendary Liquid Gold – a gentle resurfacing liquid that acts as toner, exfoliator, serum, and moisturiser. This was how I was introduced to the brand and it’s still their best-selling product. I think it’s fair to say that bloggers found it first!

Alpha H have slowly added more knockout products over the years, and I recently attended one of the launches for their ‘Essentials’ collection.

Essential Cleansing Balm (30ml)

4-in-1 cleanser, toner, make up remover and soothing balm that melts away make up and impurities while also maintaining the skin’s protective barrier to hydrate and brighten as it softens.

Massage 2-3 pumps directly onto the face, neck and décolletage and add a few drops of warm water to emulsify. Remove with a gentle cotton cloth, taking extra care around the delicate eye area.

Can also be used a pre cleanse to remove stubborn make-up or left on as a 10 minute moisture mask.

Follow this with Essential Hydration Concentrate (Full size 25ml)

A rich, replenishing oil, which is enriched with nine nurturing plant oils to inhibit oxidative damage and delay the onset of premature ageing.

Warm three to four drops of the concentrate between your palms and massage gently over freshly cleansed face, neck and décolletage each morning or night.

Finally, Essential Hydration Cream (30ml)

This soothes, repairs and revitalises lacklustre complexions to provide 24-hour hydration without being too rich for problematic or sensitive skin.

REVIEW – ESSENTIAL HYDRATION CONCENTRATE

I don’t need to open the cleanser or cream just yet, because I have other products I’m reviewing and don’t want them to cross over, so I’ve been trialling the oil which immediately caught my eye.

What you should take into consideration first, is the simple list of ingredients:

Carrot Oil, Wheatgerm Oil, Calendula Oil, Lavender Oil, Apricot Oil, Rosehip Oil, Avocado Oil, Geranium Oil, Olive Fruit Oil, Vitamins A, B, C, D.

Anything there you can’t pronounce, or have to run though a ‘safe ingredient’ checker? No, that’s because it’s been formulated without chemical preservatives, fragrances or binders.

Essential Hydration Concentrate

The oil, in a glass bottle with a hygienic glass pipette to control drops, is bright yellow and smells gorgeous, – obviously, it’s the mix of lavender and geranium in particular, I can detect.

Here’s what it does:

  • Soothes and repairs dry, mature, stressed and sun damaged skin.
  • Repairs cell damage, diminishes signs of ageing.
  • Rehydrates stressed, abused skin.
  • A “hug in a bottle” for damaged, chapped, fragile, dehydrated skin.
  • Alleviates discomfort, redness, irritation on supersensitive skins.
  • Use during periods of seasonal change as the synergy of oils boosts moisture levels.

For a product packed with 9 oils, my thirsty skin sucks it up and it absorbs really fast without leaving a greasy residue behind.

I’m limiting use to 3 times a week, but really, it could be an all round staple and I’d be tempted to use it multiple ways every day.

ON ITS OWN

I apply a couple of drops to a clean face to soothe my sometimes (very) irritated skin, and to take care of dry patches which suddenly appear on my cheeks as the weather gets colder.

ADDED TO OTHER SKIN CARE PRODUCTS

The oil also blends beautifully with moisturisers and night creams for a top up hydration boost. I’ve also added a couple of drops to body lotion/creams – that’s multi-tasking!

This year I’m all over oil and serum, I feel as my skin is maturing, it responds better to these than heavier, sometimes pore clogging, cream formulations. Skin care has to adapt to changes in our ageing skin, especially when the menopause hits.

The Essential Hydration Concentrate is perfect for my mature skin, but it’s also ideal for younger skin – as someone said to me at the Alpha H event, I wish we had these products when we were in our twenties!

VALUE FOR MONEY

No one seems to be making a big deal of this, so I hope my calculations are correct!
