REVIEW: REDKEN Heatcure Hair Mask

REDKEN Heatcure Hair MaskI was expecting great things from this self-heating mask by Redken.

Firstly, I’m a huge fan of Redken All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner and secondly, well I just love a product you have to ‘mess about’ with.

REDKEN HEATCURE AT HOME SELF-HEATING MASK

This weekly treatment is designed to be used either as a stand-alone mask or for use between visits to the salon.

Ideal for dry, damaged or colour-treated hair, the formula restores the health of hair, resulting in locks that are soft, shiny and conditioned.

INGREDIENTS

  • Arian Oil
  • Arginine
  • Soy Protein
  • Sepicap* – New to me. A biological vehicle of Amino Acids with Panthenol to protect hair against oxidative damage. Sounds promising, something to look out for future hair care purchases.

HOW TO USE

Peel open front to expose to air and start the self-heating.
Wait 3-4 minutes to allow the contents to warm. While heating, do not place under water.
Squeeze the pouch to dispense the formula into your hand. Distribute formula through hair.
Leave on 5-10 minutes. Rinse.

REVIEW

It’s nothing special, yes I liked how it heated up, but the scent (inoffensive and hair salony) and feel (thick white and gunky) is just meh!  To me, it was just another generic hair mask.

Over the course of 8 weeks I used all four sachets and my hair, apart from feeling a little softer, didn’t look or feel, noticeably different after each use.

Also, it’s very expensive at just over £4.00 per treatment. Stick with my Home Steam Treatment for Deep Conditioning with a big dollop of coconut oil instead.

IMPORTANT NOTE

*Loads of rave reviews on the net, but this one in particular, caught my eye. I wasn’t going to repurchase anyway, but this makes me wonder if Sepicap is the villain, not the hero?

This is amazing, made hair so soft and curly. But the first line on package said extremely toxic to aquatic life. Sorry hair but fishies are more important. Why would any company have a product this harsh? I am afraid to go near my fish tank now.

Debbie-k is right, why would a company produce such a harsh and none eco-friendly product? And I applied it to my scalp!
