I must be
finally growing up (or getting old), because I really wanted to buy the Dior Addict Lip Glow Sugar Scrub, but balked at the £25.00 price tag. Applying a gorgeous luxury lipstick when you need a sneaky slick of colour when you’re out is (I think), acceptable, but who exfoliates their lips in public?
I looked online for cheaper alternatives and found the very popular and VERY reasonably priced e.l.f. Studio Lip Exfoliator.
Gently exfoliate lips to remove dry, chapped skin with our Lip Exfoliator. This is my first, but not last, e.l.f product.
A sweet sugar and smoothing sensation, infused with Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Avocado, Grape and Jojoba Oils to nourish and protect. This Lip Exfoliator treats and smoothes lips for a conditioned and revitalised feel.
There are 5 ‘flavours’ i.e. scents, to choose from, plus a non scented version:
- Sweet Cherry
- Mint Maniac
- Pink Grapefruit
One of each please! I chose Rose which smells natural and ‘tastes’ divine.
HOW TO USE
Dampen lips and massage on the exfoliator in a circular motion.
Use a damp cotton ball to wipe away.
Apply lip balm or gloss to moisturise and condition.
I didn’t read the instructions on the packaging – which by the way is ridiculously wasteful. Save the planet and your profits e.l.f and cut it down!
I applied the scrub from the bullet to dry lips and it felt like I’d rubbed a piece of sandpaper over them. I soon wised up and reapplied to slightly wet lips and wiped off with a damp cotton wool pad as directed. The result? Soft, smooth, rosy lips and for a fifth of the price of the Dior Sugar Scrub.
The Dior version is of course more luxurious (although there’s less of it). Instead of wiping off the product, you can ‘melt’ the grains of sugar by smacking your lips together and perhaps it is more balmy and moisturising. No matter though, because I’m an e.l.f fan now and I’ll be purchasing Pink Grapefruit when this one runs out.
There is a slight plumping effect, but that’s only temporary from the blood rushing to your lips. One tip – only twist up as much as you need, I get the feeling the bullet is a little fragile and could break if you apply too much pressure.
There’s really not much more to add, apart from something slightly odd, maybe I’ll have researched it properly before this post goes live. But there appears to be a ‘lip balm’ at the bottom of the case – only you can’t get to it! I’ve read that it’s a ‘secret balm’ you have to prise open with pliers to get to, or maybe it’s an inside joke? I’m sure there’s a YouTube video explaining this, but it doesn’t make sense that you’d have to ruin the case to get to it. Weird isn’t it?
