REVIEW Radara Eye Patches
Effective, but non-invasive anti-ageing skin care, is all about how far we can ‘push’ products deeper into our skin to make them work harder and produce better results, instead of having creams and serums merely sitting on top of our skin.
I’ve trialled the Radara™ skin care system for the 5 weeks. These eye patches are little miracle workers and have been able to soften and plump up the fine lines around my eyes – often the first area to show signs of ageing.
WHAT IS RADARA™?
Radara consists of rejuvenating micro-channelling eyes patches and high purity hyaluronic acid (HA) serum to restore skin quality and diminish signs of ageing.
This innovative, targeted and painless approach delivers smoother, firmer skin with reduced lines and wrinkles with results visible as early as two weeks, and best results being seen at four weeks.
The patches are printed using the latest 3D printing technology and are made from a medical-grade polymer. One side is covered in 2,000 microscopic structures, similar to needles, each less than 0.5 mm long. This is long enough to make tiny holes or ‘microchannels’ in the skin.
Obviously, we all know our own faces intimately and can spot subtle changes immediately, but when someone else comments, then you know something’s working.
I had my eyebrows waxed last week (which I won’t be doing ever again, more on that later), and my lovely therapist asked me what eye cream I’d been using since my last visit 3 weeks ago. She could see a difference and thought it was the one she recommended (£95.00 for 20ml – gulp, no!). That really pleased me.
Also, as a further endorsement, I took the patches to an established beauty expert in the industry to ask what she thought of them. Even though she sells her own line of products, she admitted that the technology was proven and it was an exciting development.
HOW TO USE
- Always apply to cleansed skin
- Break open one set of eye patches, each packet is labelled left and right
- Apply each patch to your outer eye area and firmly smooth the patch over your skin with pressure from your fingers
- Gently peel away each patch, lay them face up on the packet and apply a pump of serum to the skin around your eyes
- Re-apply the patches and leave in place for 5 minutes
- After 5 minutes dispose of the single-use patches and wipe away excess serum (I pat it in as I use the patches at night)
You read the words 2000 microscopic plastic structures (likened to tiny needles) and you immediately think oh, that must hurt. But it doesn’t at all. I read a very good description that said they feel like the tiny teeth on velcro and that’s right, although the ‘needles’ feel much softer than that once on the skin.
You can of course feel them when you run your finger over them, and yes, they feel a tiny bit spiky, but when in place, it’s no big deal and not at all uncomfortable.
Active ingredients in skin care products that are applied to the skin’s surface only penetrate the very top few layers of the epidermis and cannot reach down to the level where they are needed to effect skin renewal, hydration and collagen formation.
Radara’s unique micro-channelling approach using ultra-thin patches provide a direct route through the skin’s barrier, allowing the high-grade HA serum to penetrate to the deeper skin levels where it is most needed.
Even placing them into position and gently pressing down to create the channels is painless. They really couldn’t be any simpler to use. When you apply the patches over the serum, they stay firmly in place and won’t fall off, plus it’s only a 5 minute treatment.
The patches are a generous size and cover a wide area around the eyes. It’s also true to say that foundation applied the next day will sit better as skin is smoother.
Afterwards, it’s a just question of peeling them off and disposing of the patches. I didn’t experience any redness, soreness or prickling sensation – OR SEE ANY HOLES!
There’s an 8 week supply of serum – 4 weeks to use with the patches and 4 weeks use of serum alone. This means you’re reaping 8 weeks’ worth of benefits.
As I’ve said above, I’m more than happy that my beauty therapist who saw me close up 3 weeks after I began using them, thought I’d been using an amazing eye cream! Although, I should point out that I was very firmly told not to ever have my eyebrows waxed because it can severely damage the delicate, thin skin on the brow bone – of course, thinking about it makes sense, I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of that before.
Now I’ve used them, I think they’d be ideal for use 6 weeks before a big event. 4 weeks with patches and 2 with the serum alone as added eye smoothing insurance.

FUTURE RADARA™ PRODUCTS
This is exciting and without even looking at the official website, I already knew the patches could be utilised on other ‘problem’ areas.
We will be looking into developing Radara® products for a number of facial and body areas, such as under-eye, forehead, upper lips and décolletage in the next few years.
THIS is where anti-ageing skin care meets technology and I’m pleased that we’re going to see more of these products being developed as people look for non invasive alternatives to Botox and fillers.
