REVIEW LD Boutique – Leighton Denny Lip Duals
Designed to be worn in a number of ways, Leighton Denny’s Lip Dual includes a lip stain at one end, and a lipstick at the other to offer long-lasting lip colour without feathering or fading.
The array of ten fabulous colours mean you can stain it, layer it, tone it up or tone it down and wear your colour your way. Each cute bullet has a long-lasting stain at one end and a creamy, rich, luxe lipstick at the other – so Lip Dual lasts all day and into the night, without drying.
This is the most eclectic range of shades I’ve ever seen. They’re all so very different, but the diversity means that there’s a perfect shade for all ages and skin tones, although I think darker skin tones have the pick of the bunch.
The 2-in-1 lip colour system, features an extreme-wear lip stain and ultra-conditioning lipstick which combined, deliver unbeatable colour-staying power which will not feather or fade and requires no touch-ups.
The unique non-drying formula provides a veil of colour to your lips, the magnetic-like stain creates an extremely fine layer of colour that stays in place until it’s removed. Special polymers fix the stain to the lips, to leave a weightless and long-lasting colour.
The stains do feel quite light on the lips. I don’t consider them traditional, heavy-duty stains at all. They have the colour and longevity, but not the weight, plus they’re not drying, a fault lip stains tend to have.
Rich in anti-oxidants and ceramide-like ingredients the lips are protected against dehydration keeping them soft & supple. A blend of special waxes prevent the colour from melting & bleeding.
When you apply the lipstick on top of the stain, the colour really punches. I can’t detect any particular fragrance, it just smells like lipstick.
Made in Italy and available in classic and fashion forward matte or sheen shades, from nude and natural tones, to dark red, pink and purple whether you’re looking for a neutral day or daring night. Each colour has been created by Leighton to match some of his favourite nail colours.
HOW TO USE
Always allow your stain to dry before applying your lipstick.
- For a subtle day look, apply sheer “stain” side of the product, for a fine layer of colour that stays in place until its removed
- For a glossy night-time finish, apply the long-lasting lipstick, then follow with lip stain for a more shimmered finish
- For a more dramatic look and for optimum staying power, apply the water based “stain” followed by the creamy, long-lasting lipstick.
Deal With It
Hot matte pink. Ideal for young skin, and an amazing pop of colour on darker skin tones.
Nude taupe with a high shine finish. One for everyone, looks scarily brown/purple in the tube, but lightens up upon application. The stain is especially flattering.
Love That Red
Deep, berry, brown/red with a matte look for sultry, statement lips. A lovely match for very pale or very dark skin tones.
Hot Coral with a matte finish, for warm skin tones. As above!
Ultimate classic red with a matte finish. If you’re looking for drama…
Metallic berry (sheen) with a touch of sparkle. Evening glamour, great for pale skin AND dark skin especially, and a shade mature skin can pull off too.
Deep plum (sheen). Madness! Looks blue on the website (sort it, LD!) but it’s actually a dramatic and sexy, dark plum – one for medium and dark skin tones.
In The Nude
Natural, rose blush with a sheer finish. My favourite. A true ‘nude’ that leans away from orange towards a flattering nude pink. This has got to be the best-selling shade.
Hot for Chocolate
Warm, brown, coffee colour, perfect for darker skin tones with a matte finish. Ideal for a polished look on dark skin tones.
Matte coral pink, this perfect apricot will take you from day to night, ideal to give paler skin a touch of glam. A ‘suits all’ shade, especially for pale, tanned and dark skin tones.
