Sent to me for review, are 3 brushes (OK, one’s a comb), from award-winning hairdresser Lee Stafford, who says:
The right brushes are essential for good hair. I would not be able to function without my essential kit and wardrobe of brushes, pick the right brush for the job and you’re half way there!
I keep saying it, even though the Lee Stafford range is obviously targeted to the young ‘uns – i.e. the shocking pink colour and the UnBEliEvaBlY AnNoYiNg mix of upper and lower case letters (really showing my age now), us older women can benefit from the range as well.
De-Stress the Mess Detangling Comb £4.99
- Teeth are infused with ARGANOIL™ from Morocco to create shiny and conditioned hair
- Extra wide-toothed design allows for delicate detangling on damp hair, as hair is fragile and more prone to damage when wet
- Smooth rounded tips are kinder to the scalp
- Water removal grooves that helps to remove water from the hair quickly with every stroke
- Hanging loop with suction hook
This giant Barbie comb is great for combing through conditioning products and treatments.
However, if you’re lucky enough to have really thick hair, or wear hair extensions, then I think this is the comb for you, not just for conditioner, but to take the knots out of the ends of longer hair (extensions tend to get ratty, very quickly), without damaging it.
Perfectly Polished Finishing Touch Brush £9.99
- Nylon and boar bristles for extra shine and less frizz
- Ergonomic handle to hold
- Bristles distribute sebum which leaves hair shiny and strong
- Lightweight and compact
For beautiful, caressed waves, first curl your hair, leave to cool and then brush through with My Perfectly Polished Finishing Touch Brush for a soft beach wave with fantastic shine and amazing shape.
This is handy for that last second sweep through the hair before you leave the house. The bristles aren’t overly soft, but they are gentle on the scalp, so it’s ideal for those of us with fine hair.
Lee Stafford Frizz Off Vent Brush Infused with Keratin £6.99
- Keratin infused – helps to protect and nourish hair and calm flyaway hair
- Vents allow air to circulate whilst drying, allowing the hair to dry quicker
- Great for brushing out defined curls for a more natural look
The clever design allows air to circulate through the vent holes whilst drying, allowing more heat to flow directly to each hair shaft so you can dry and style even quicker.
One of my favourite ways to use my Frizz Off Vent Brush is to create volume whilst blow drying. After sectioning your hair, lift up away from the scalp on the underside of each section and slide through the hair to create an instant fuller, voluminous look. It also defines curls whilst reducing frizz once and for all.
I can’t comment on how it works on curly hair, but I use this vent brush to straighten a stubborn kink on the back of my hair (even newly washed, newly blow dried, hair). I can feel the annoying wave, but can’t see it.
I do try to minimise use of my GHDs. Plus, and I know this is true for everyone who uses straighteners; it doesn’t matter how high the temperature of the tongs are, or how efficiently they work first time, it’s nigh on impossible to only do one pass. I’m as guilty as the next person for going over a section (especially that kink) time and time again, but using tongs is the only sure-fire way I have (well, had) of smoothing it down.
I only use the brush for this one job, but it’s got to be better for my hair than those hot irons!
The Lee Stafford hairbrush range is available exclusively from Boots Nationwide.
