Budget make up ranges can be a bit hit and miss sometimes, but MeMeMe Cosmetics have built up a strong online reputation for their huge range of ‘affordable luxury’ cosmetics, that aim to give premium make up brands a run for their money.
In particular, the Create the Look collections are excellent value – 4 essential products (including their best-selling baked eyeshadow palettes), for smokey, dramatic or smouldering eyes for £20.00.
The cosmetics aren’t cheap cheap, but I feel they’re positioned at the ‘very reasonable and excellent value for the quality’ end of the market.
I’m about to crack open my second bottle of MeMeMe’s Coral Blossom Cheek & Lip Tint, which I wouldn’t even have looked at before, but it’s now become a must have item in my make up bag.
LIP SHEENS COLLECTION
New MeMeMe Lip Sheens are a perfect combination of the colour impact of lipstick and the shine of a gloss, all with a lightweight, non-sticky formulation designed to moisturise and nurture your perfect pout.
Formulated with shea butter and aloe vera to nourish and protect lips, MeMeMe Lip Sheens are available in nude, bright and deep colour tones, in ten on trend shades, straight from the A/W 2015 catwalks.
If you’re thinking these sound like wispy, sheer lipsticks, then you’re wrong. These are pigment packed lipsticks with a subtle glossy sheen.

The shade I chose to review (I can’t do darks or brights), is Sheer Cashmere.
It’s a robust, dark nude shade with a strong pigment and I think this is MeMeMe’s strength, you’re paying for the product itself and not the sleek packaging or expensive celebrity fronted, advertising campaign.
There are some gorgeous, vibrant brights in the collection, but I think Sheer Cashmere is one of the more versatile shades. It’s ideal for younger women who want to pair their smokey eye with a nude lip that packs a stronger punch of colour.
However, Sheer Cashmere, which leans towards the brown end of the nude spectrum, is also really flattering on us older women who can’t always carry off a pale nude and need to dial the colour up a notch to stop us looking washed out.
Usually, a lipstick labelled ‘sheer’ needs frequent application, but to me, the only sheer thing about this lipstick is how well it glides onto the lips (that’s the shea butter).
It feels moisturising (the aloe vera), and doesn’t feather or settle into fine vertical lines the way a matte lipstick does (which is why I aways prefer lipstick with gloss or sheen). The longevity too is very good (3-4 hours), for such a creamy formulation.
I’m not crazy about the casing. The lipstick itself is securely housed in the usual way in a solid, hard plastic shell and it twists up and down without any problem.
But the lid is a little soft, it’s a thin layer of plastic covered with hard cardboard and just feels a little too ‘papery’ to me.
Sheer Cashmere – A flattering lipstick with a luxury feel (and look), for a very reasonable price.
MeMeMe Lip Sheens are priced £8.95 and are available from MeMeMe Cosmetics from 1st October.
