PLUMP IT UP! Mac Plushglass Lipgloss in ‘Nice Buzz’
I bought this Mac lip gloss on a whim because I just love the colour. What I didn’t realise is that Plushglass is a lip plumping gloss and in particular, the shade ‘Nice Buzz’ gives bare or ‘painted’ lips a big fat kick.
Forget the misleading official images (why are they always so rubbish? They HAVE the technology!) my image below is spot on. Nice Buzz is a shimmery, sheer nude with tiny gold flecks. It’s certainly not a ‘Disco Barbie’ shimmer, but is flattering and yes, lip plumping – there’s a tiny hint of tingle when it’s first applied.
Pair this shade with a smokey eye for full on glamour. I really can’t pull off a nude lip (and my smokey eye is more smudgy eye), but I use lots of lip liner – Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk to line and fill in my lips before applying this on top and the effect is pretty and polished.
However, apply in the centre of the lower and upper lip over a lipstick, and it really helps to bring the lips forwards. Perfect for less than naturally full lips.
On my pale lips it provides a very light wash of champagne tinted glossiness that works well on its own for a very natural look, or on top of a nude lipliner. I personally like the slight tingling sensation when applied, and the texture is definitely less sticky that the original lipglass.
At a MAC store, they recommended this as a nice gloss to layer on top of half n half; so I’ve been using it ever since on top of a ton of different nude and pink lipsticks – it adds a fun shimmer to matte lipsticks.
The gloss is fairly thick and velvety, it applies nicely from the doe foot applicator and has plenty of pearlised shimmer without being in-your-face glitzy. It’s sheer although there is a hint of pale peachy pink to it.
Alone it gives quite a pale/sheer finish so if a pale lip is your thing, you’ll love it. Pale lips don’t do anything for me I’m afraid so I do tend to layer this over a colour and that’s when it really comes into its own, giving depth and shimmer and keeping your colour on for longer.
I apply the gloss with a lip brush and I did find it quite thick and a bit gloopy in texture, but the upside is that I’ve never found lip gloss to be as long-lasting as this one is, fabulous staying power.
The only downside for me is the scent which is described by a lot of bloggers as a sort of sweet vanilla. For me though, it’s more of a heavy caramel scent, reminiscent of one of Mark’s E-cigarette ‘flavourings’ (or whatever they’re called). I find it strong and a bit sickly, although fortunately, it doesn’t linger.
This is not a shade or high gloss lip product I would have normally bought, I find the price, at £17.50 (4.2ml) absolutely horrendous – I bought mine at Bicester for a lot less. Charlotte Tilbury has what looks like a very similar shade, Lip Lustre in Blondie for £16.50 (3.5ml).

If it helps a little, Debenhams are selling Mac Plushglass for £15.75 (at 21/4/15)
