REVIEWS

Gives grip and great volume at the roots that lasts all day and into the next but is not crispy or crunchy. Should NOT be used through lengths as I think it would make hair difficult to comb through. I have a terrible time getting body into my thin thyroid challenged hair and this stuff is so good I’ve bought a backup can. Really, really good and I love it, which means it will get discontinued (I hope not).

I have thick straight hair. I’ve used this product for years to help me style it so I can least get a curl and lift to my heavy thick straight hair. It’s the best product I’ve ever found because it is easy to use and it doesn’t contain any alcohol to dry out the scalp. The price is right on the product too. It’s the best product I’ve found. I can’t live without it.

I have a fine bob, which is bleached and often is limp without any volume. I sprayed this product on my roots and combed it through to the ends, the results were full of volume without any sticky feeling and the style stayed in. I would recommend this product.

MY REVIEW

I don’t like ‘big’ hair, I did all that in the 80s, you needed huge hair back then to balance out the massive shoulder pads, but I do sometimes need a little ‘lift’ at the roots, especially around the crown area.

This root lift foam has a faint, coconut fragrance and is a medium-hold, which is ideal for natural looking height. It’s not sticky, but the foam ‘clings on’ quickly, so you should work fast when blow drying.

I think the key to using this foam effectively is to make sure it really is only applied to the root area. The reviewer above is spot on when she says the foam is difficult to comb through when applied to the lengths, hair does become a little stiff.

If it’s a bit awkward to apply straight from the aerosol to the roots, use your fingers to massage in the foam. Comb into the root area on the crown, or wherever you need height, then, using a small-sized radial brush (suggestions below) blow dry, using a hairdryer with a nozzle attachment. Leave the brush in place for a few seconds for hair to cool down and gently remove.

Radial brushes

Kent Natural Shine Radial Pure Bristle Brush Small £8.50 Look Fantastic
Denman Nylon Bristle Radial Hairbrush £4.60 John Lewis

The radial brushes work perfectly on shorter hair, but can tangle up in longer hair. The rule is, the longer your hair, the smaller [ie narrower], the section of hair you work on.

This is a good ‘root lift’ alternative to my beloved Kerastase Volumifique (best suited as an all over volumiser). Plus Joico Root Lift has twice as much product for a couple of pounds less, it’s going to last awhile.
