TRIED & TESTED: Advanced Nutrition Programme Skin Accumax Acne & Rosacea

Advanced Nutrition Programme Skin AccumaxUPDATE: See end of article.

I’m in my third month of trying out a food supplement for the iiaa, the International Institute for Anti-Ageing. Their brands include multi award-winning scientific skin care products Environ and Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics. I have rosacea and I am taking a supplement called Skin Accumax from their acclaimed Advanced Nutrition Programme, which iiaa have invited me to try to see if it makes a differenceMy 18-year-old son JJ, who has acne, is also taking the same supplement.

To be honest, I have always been a bit skeptical about before and after photographs. You can clearly see that they are exactly the same photographs, just clumsily retouched – hair is in exactly the same place “three months” later!

We had our photographs taken, I had to take my make up off of course, although before I leave, the in-house make up artist reapplies it with fabulous Jane Iredale cosmetics, I’m not usually a fan of mineral make up, I find it too heavy, but their mineral powder foundation is feather light.

We then took it in turns to have our skin scanned by the computer controlled VISIA Skin and Complexion Analysis System, which uses multi-spectral imaging to reveal damage and signs of ageing on and beneath the surface of the skin not visible to the human eye.

We repeat the procedure next week and the results will be compared to our first readings. The iiaa aren’t relying on us to say we think our skin has improved, technology will give them true, ‘science-based’ answers.

I did think that taking two capsules, twice a day, would be a bit of a chore for a teenage boy, but after seeing an improvement, I didn’t have to nag JJ after the first two weeks. He’s a lucky lad, we’ll be packing him off to university with healthy, clear skin. He only gets outbreaks of spots around the neck and chin area when he shaves his beard. JJ lets it grow for a bit, gets bored and shaves it all off again.

While my skin has improved, the rosacea is still present. I was advised that with my skin condition it would probably take longer to see a difference.  I think JJ will no longer need to take the supplements, but I will be continuing with the programme.

I will certainly keep you updated on my progress.

UPDATE: 20th August 2014

Well, JJ and I went back to the iiaa. We once again had our skin analysed by the VISIA machine and then compared results of the before and after scans.

JJ’s skin, as we already could see for ourselves, showed an immense improvement. But the scan (and technology), showed us just how much, about 90% of his face is now crystal clear and he’s more than happy with the outcome.

My results (I have rosacea), were fair, I’d say a 30/35% improvement, although the redness on my lower cheeks has greatly diminished. I did actually think I would be trialling Skin Accumax for longer, but it looks like the trial was just for those 3 months, although I am of course, grateful for the opportunity. If I wasn’t trailing other supplements and products, then I would probably try another 3 month supply of Skin Accumax.

Is you son still taking accumax? If not, has acne returned?

Good question. The trial ended at 3 months and JJ left for university with 90% clear skin. He came back 5 weeks later, also with glowing skin. He even had a bit of a tan (in October!) – the result of lots of fresh air during the day. He has catering at uni, so his diet was balanced. I think these two factors helped maintain the results.
However, he was home for Christmas for 4 weeks and even though he works out regularly and watches his diet, he relaxed it completely over the holiday for 3 weeks.
He went out – mostly at night, arriving back in the early hours. During the day, JJ mostly stayed in with his friends indoors playing video games. *groan* He ate all the usual Christmas fare, including sweets and snacks etc and even put on a couple of pounds. His skin suffered, he became spotty (although not severely) and dry.
Week 4, he took stock, ate more healthily, came out for walks with us, lost the weight (so easy for men!) and his skin improved, even in that short space of time.
I believe Accumax put him on the right path. But I also believe diet and fresh air plays an enormous and vital part of the process too.
JJ’s been back at uni for a couple of weeks and judging by his latest Facebook pics, he’s back on track and his skin is looking clear again.
