There’s a change in the air, long overdue I might add. Brands are slowly waking up to the fact that (gasp!) women age and the beauty industry need to cater for our needs, along with the fresh-faced 20 years olds who seem to dominate the beauty market.
I’ve seen an influx of new hair and beauty products launched over the last couple of years specifically targeted to us older women and I embrace this change of attitude. We’re pickier and less impressionable than a lot of younger women; we’re not slaves to the current trends; we’re prepared to pay for quality, but not expensive advertising campaigns.
We’re smart too, we know that gorgeous celebrities are chosen to front beauty campaigns, because they’re already beautiful and not because the products they endorse made them beautiful.
Rajeunir is a recently launched brand with a new twist on the thorny subject of ageing. Their ethos is to challenge the way people think about getting older and the pressure society puts on us to stay ‘forever’ young.
The word ‘Rajeunir’ comes from the French language and means ‘to rejuvenate’. The Rajeunir Beauty Range came about as a result of frustration with the media and society’s view of age. Women over the age of 40 are portrayed and judged as ‘over the hill’ or ‘past it’. Picking up a tabloid paper will show a photo of a celebrity of a certain age with the phrases “she’s still got it” or “she looks good for her age”. These phrases are degrading and frustrating. Why can a woman not just look good full stop.
We want to show people that age is not something to be scared of. It is not something that can or should be fought. It should be celebrated and embraced.

The shampoo and conditioner are pink grapefruit scented, the fragrance is a natural, refreshing one and they ‘zing’ on the scalp. I’ve not yet used the moisturiser, but the lip serum (a particular favourite of reviewers and a huge hit at the recent Anti-Ageing Show), is a handbag necessity. It’s silky textured, without leaving a film. The serum is also a great base for lipstick, the silicone helps fill in the fine lines to prevent lipstick bleed.
Oh and call me shallow, but the packaging of the shampoo and conditioner in matt silver bottles is blooming gorgeous! These look absolutely lovely in the bathroom. I really look forward to seeing more products from this new brand.
