My pick of the January beauty sales
I’m sure there are still loads of great bargains out there, especially ‘Special Edition’ Christmas gift sets that didn’t sell, but I’ve found nine beauty buys that might tempt you. I did have twelve, but three sold out as I was typing! I’ve checked the links and right this second – 7.45pm, they are all in stock,
There’s nothing here that could be described as a beauty essential, but there are definitely some that I’m happy to buy at these sale prices.
1. St. Tropez – The Ultimate Self Tan Kit Gift Set
- Self Tan Bronzing Mousse 120ml
- St.Tropez Powder Bronzer 12g
- Tan Applicator Mitt
Good old St. Tropez, we’ve all used this, haven’t we? Nice price!
Was: £25.00 Now: £17.50 Debenhams They also have a ‘Gradual Self Tan’ kit for the same price.
2. Elemis Anti-Ageing Super Duo Gift Set
- Super-Size Pro-Collagen Marine Cream 100ml
- Full Size Cellular Recovery Skin Capsules – 60 Capsules
I know lots of people love Marine cream, but for me, the Bliss Capsules are Elemis’ star product.
Was £135.00 now £90.00 Debenhams
Interestingly, this is a cheaper price than Feel Unique £112.20
3. Clinique Black Honey Gift Set
- Almost Lipstick in Black Honey 1.9g
- Superbalm Moisturising Gloss 7ml
- Nail Varnish in Black Honey 5ml
- High Impact Mascara in Black 3.5ml
‘Black Honey’ is an iconic shade and will look different depending on your skin tone. It’s sheer, but buildable.
THE BEST mini set going! Love this color. Black honey looks differently on everyone, but tends to suit one no matter what. Clinique has a real winner in this product and color.
Don’t be alarmed by the dark hue of the tube, it’s very pretty and subtle when you put it on.
Moisturising, long wearing, great hint of color without the tacky texture that a lot of glosses possess (even high-end ones). You can even just apply it to chapped lips and it won’t accentuate anything, but seriously treat them right then and there.
Was £25.00 now £16.66 Debenhams
4. Guerlain Sun Protection Cream SPF 30 Blondes 110ml
Protect and perfect your summer skin with the Guerlain Terracotta Sun Moisturiser Tan Booster, a moisturising tan booster.
A tan accelerator with a SPF of 30? That’ll do nicely.
John Lewis are also selling it at the same price. I’m not sure if it’s reduced because it’s a limited edition, or because it’s not a best seller.
Was £30.00 Now: £15.00 Debenhams
5. Mini Sequin Embellished Make Up Bag in ‘Champagne’
I bought this last year (for £3.00 in the sale) in silver and it’s a gorgeous little bag – really small, but well made ie the sequins don’t fall off when you look at them. You could also fill this with little gifts, I’ve paid £3.00 for paper gift bags but this is really cute. Nice to take on holiday as well.
Was: £5.00 Now: £3.00 Marks & Spencer
6. Limited Collection Lip & Cheek Tint in ‘Apricot’
This dual-purpose liquid stain gives lips and cheeks a hint of natural-looking colour. Use under lip gloss for added intensity. Hypoallergenic and Paraben free.
Great for tanned or darker skin tones. Shame the other shades aren’t on offer, but some excellent reviews:
Thought I’d try it out as it’s pretty cheap and I’m happy with the purchase. I think you need to layer the colour a little as I find it wears off in the middle of your lip if you are drinking but generally lasts a good while.
I wasn’t expecting much from this at such a low price but the girl at the beauty counter showed me how to build up the colour, sheer to vibrant. How wrong was I, once you let it dry this STAYS ON. I would suggest 2/3 coats depending on effect you want and looks even better with the nude gloss on top.
I personally don’t like lip gloss as I don’t like the sticky texture. These dry really quickly and smooth then I pop a lip balm over the top if I want a glossy look. If I’m going on a night out, I’ll put this on before I go out and when I wake up in the morning, you can still see that some of it is on! As the product dries quickly, the colour doesn’t bleed outside of your lips so no need to keep checking for smudging.
7. Toni & Guy ‘TGST2992’ Precision Straightener
Good value for money, but the plates are very thin, although it still works very well on my long thick hair.
A good product, heats up to 210 degrees, works just like GHDs except the plates are thinner, and a lot cheaper! This product has really impressed me for the price. The cord is also quite long allowing more manoeuverability. Heats up quickly and leaves my hair feeling smooth.
We should all have a pair of emergency hair straighteners [#firstworldproblems] because you never know when your GHDs will give up the ghost.
Was £30.00 now £15.00 Debenhams

9. Formula Daily Skin Care Starter Kit
These products are hypoallergenic and free from parabens, fragrance and colour.
You can’t go wrong for £2.00. This is a set for last-minute emergencies – something you can throw into a bag. Maybe a present for teens (girls and boys) or perhaps a thoughtful gift for someone going into hospital.
