REVIEW UPDATE: 30th December 2013
Super Serum x 30 vials
This is my all time favourite Elemis product, yes, even ahead of Elemis Bliss Capsules. I’ve already noted below how utterly fabulous it is under foundation, it preps and gives a soft glow to the skin. Every single time I used it, someone told me how well I looked – THAT’S the compliment we should all look out for. I loved it so much and wanted to keep on using it, that I managed to squeeze out three applications from each vial. Two light applications for mornings and a more generous one in the evenings.
1.5ml of product doesn’t sound like much, but s t r e t c h it by warming it on your fingertips and massaging the product in quickly. I also cut down the vials – Snip the end seam, the top and cut along the tube. There’s a lot of product still in there, use the handle end of a teaspoon or your tweezers to get it all out.
I’ve actually kept a vial back to use for special occasions, THAT’S how highly I rate it.
Jowl and Chin Mask
The mask is a saturated cloth with holes to hook over your ears; you think it won’t fit, but it does because it stretches firmly along the chin and neck area, forcing all the goodies to sink into your skin.
Best used behind a closed bathroom door though, I had to dash out briefly to break up a fight (two teenage sons) and was greeted with cries of ‘It’s Mrs Claus/Hannibal Lecter/Facelift Woman!’ They were so amused they forgot what they were fighting about.
After 20 minutes skin is smooth, especially under the jowl area and – I don’t know if ‘lifted’ is the right word, but certainly perkier and there’s a definite firmness to the lower cheeks, it doesn’t last forever, but it is noticable. This mask is something you could use the night before an event as the effects carry on to the next day.
Eye and Lip Contour Cream
A mere 5ml of product (and in a pump, but fortunately, it can be easily dismantled to get every last bit out), yet it’s so rich there’s enough for a decent application each time, (more in evening than morning, though).
The cream did not do much for the lines around my eyes, but is an absolute winner for my lips. I’ve used Estée Lauder Perfectionist Targeted Deep Wrinkle Filler for years for a stubborn vertical line on my top lip that lipstick would bleed into, and it has blurred it over time. This cream, patted gently along the lip line, softened the edges. Would I buy this as a standalone product for my lips? Yes, I certainly would.
Firstly, I should say that there’s not enough product. I even did my old trick of cutting the tube down. You have to apply a very thin layer to make it last the full 30 days.
Always choose a product in a tube and not a pump. A lot of product collects in the ‘collar’ of the tube that you can scoop out. Plus, it’s more hygenic than a jar, don’t dip fingers into a jar, even body cream, use a spatula.
I believe Elemis’s strength is in their serum and oils. I know their creams are best sellers – I’ve spoken to a lot of women who swear by Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, but, hand on heart, the creams have never done much for me. Although the rich Eye and Lip Contour Cream included in this kit is (as mentioned above) an exception.
You need to be committed to using all the components regularly and in the correct way. Everything is carefully and concisely explained on the box and in the leaflet. This is an expensive piece of kit, you are not going to get your moneysworth or see any tangible results if you skip steps or don’t follow the massage procedure as described in the leaflet.
The key to the Elemis Pro-Intense Lift Effect Super System is the combination of serum, massage and chin masks. The main difference I noticed was the lessening of two scary lines from the lower corners of my mouth (like a ventriloquist’s dummy!) and a firming of the area below my chin
The serum really is the star player here, it’s very easy to massage into the skin and as I’ve said above, creates a glowing, but non greasy, base under make up.
I believe that face massage, properly executed, will produce visible results over time, it’s just a question of getting into a regular habit, plus we’re only talking a few minutes morning and evening. I’m not sure where I read it, but apparently, for maximum benefit, you should not spend more than 15 minutes a day, in total, massaging your face or performing facial exercises – this is especially important if you have acne or blemishes.
There’s one particular massage technique from the Elemis leaflet that I still do twice a day with either a facial oil, moisturiser or cleanser and that’s this one:
Make two fists and raise your thumbs up. Place thumbs under chin and slowly move out towards your ears along jaw line. Repeat 5 times.
Elemis Pro-Intense Lift Effect Super System IS expensive at £155.00 but I’ve had a look around and:
QVC have an Introductory Price of £140.64 (plus P&P £6.95) = £147.59
Prices on Ebay start from £76.19 and Amazon from £131.20 – I won’t link as I don’t know how reputable the sellers are, but this will give an idea of how much you can potentially buy the complete systems for.
Feel Unique have an offer on now, a 20% discount £124.00 (Free P&P)
As I was doing a search for the best price for the system, I found a link to Ebay where someone was selling 7 vials of the serum. I had two minutes to close of auction to get
my husband to buy them for me, it’s not a present if you buy it yourself is it? organised, and with 3 seconds to spare, bought them. I told you I loved them! I can now crack open the one I was saving for New Year’s Eve.
ORIGINAL POST: October 2013
Jowls – The lower part of a person’s cheek, especially when it is fleshy or drooping.
Well, that’s depressing! Jowls are caused by ageing – loss of skin elasticity, loss of facial fat; gravity; smoking; weight fluctuations and sleeping position. Life, in other words. Chances are that they’ll start to appear as you edge your way towards 50.
I think I might declare this Jowl Month as I’ve gathered up more massage techniques for the jaw line and I’ve already talked about disguising them with a NYX Taupe Blusher. But this is a new approach by Elemis called The Pro-Intense Lift Effect Super System. A 30 day ‘at home’ course using a four pronged attack on jowls – serum, cream, chin mask and massage.
I’ve just started using the system this week, although I’ve yet to use the Jowl and Chin mask, one for a locked bathroom I think.
- Visible results after just 30 days
- Clinically proven to significantly decrease the appearance of cheek sagging and double chin
- Visible lift-effect for the improvement of shape and contours of the facial oval
- Targets the ageing look of sagging jowls and neck
- Texture and tone are visibly improved
WHAT’S IN THE BOX?
Super Serum x 30 1.5ml vials Centella and gardenia plant stem cells are combined with a powerful concentration of clinically proven lupin in an omega-rich camelina oil base, to target the most advanced signs of skin ageing for the ultimate lift effect. This high-tech formulation is clinically proven to significantly decrease the appearance of cheek sagging and double chin.
Jowl and Chin Mask x 4 This unique stretch fibre mask lifts up over the ears to help firm and tighten the jaw line and chin. Infused with arjuna, the mask is used over the Pro-Intense Lift Effect Super Serum to further enhance its active ingredients for a more powerful lift effect.
Night Cream 15ml Formulated with a powerful blend of gardenia stem cells, arjuna and lupin, which help reduce the appearance of sagging jowls, cheeks and chin. Facial contours appear shaped, and skin texture visibly improved.
Eye and Lip Contour Cream 5ml This rich eye and lip contouring cream contains active plant stem cells from edelweiss, combined with skin supporting mafane flower, fucose and wheat amino acid. Thin, dry skin around the eyes and vertical lip lines appear firmer, plumper and redensified, revealing a more youthful, renewed and remodelled look.
A leaflet describing the face massage techniques to be used with the serum. I practised with Clarins Blue Orchid Facial Oil a few times first. I wanted to be able to do the massage without referring to the leaflet each time.
I have written a lot (and there’s more to come) on self facial massage. I still believe this is a good, cheap (ANY facial oil will do) way of stimulating the facial muscles.
HOW TO USE:
Pro-Intense Lift Effect Super Serum – Apply half of one vial in upwards motions on a cleansed face, neck and decollete.
I wasn’t particularly keen to use this serum in the morning, I thought it would look greasy under foundation and it was the last thing I needed on skin that’s already prone to shine.
My tip is to use just over half in the evenings and the rest in the morning. It does at first appear to be oily (it does contain camelina oil after all) but, as you follow the massage technique (and we’re only talking about 2 minutes tops) the serum disperses and leaves only a light residue.
What was interesting is that my make up went on smoothly on top and stayed ‘fresh looking’ all day. Yes, it’s slightly dewy, but as I’ve said on here before, a dewy skin is much more forgiving and youthful than an ageing matt one. I think the massage part helps as well to de-puff the face after sleeping. I apply the serum right after my shower and let it seep in while I do my hair. Apply your chosen day moisturiser (with SPF!) on top.
Pro-Intense Eye and Lip Contour Cream – Tap a small amount around the eyes and mouth.
I really like this, it’s incredibly rich, ‘half a pump’ on the dispenser is more than enough for your eyes – not too close to the under eye area as it doesn’t play nicely with concealer. I would have preferred a tube though, so I could cut it down and scoop out every last bit. If this is sold on its own (need to check) then I would buy it for my lips.
Pro-Intense Lift Effect Super Serum – Dispense remaining serum from vial onto fingertips and massage upwards onto a cleansed face, neck and decollete.
These phials are surprisingly generous. Usually, you’re trying to spread the product around because there isn’t nearly enough, but here you can really use half (slightly more, actually) and it WILL cover the face, neck and chest area.
Pro-Intense Lift Effect Night Cream – Apply over Pro-Intense Lift Effect Super Serum every night. – I tend to dab it on in case I ‘move’ the serum around.
Pro-Intense Eye and Lip Contour Cream – Tap a small amount around the eyes and mouth.
Pro-Intense Lift Effect Jowl and Chin Mask – Use once a week, or before a special occasion. Apply mask over your Pro-Intense Lift Effect Super Serum, leave for 20 mins and remove.
This looks comical, you literally hook it over your ears, but I can’t wait to try it.
