REVIEW: COLD PRESSED HEMP OIL – For Dry Skin

Viridian 100% Organic Hemp Oil
Guest review from reader Simone, who recommends Organic Cold Pressed Hemp Oil for dry skin.

Hemp is a rich and balanced source of the essential fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6 and its gamma linolenic acid (GLA) content makes it unique among plant seed oils.

I’ve been using cold pressed hemp oil as a night serum on its own for a couple of months and it definitely has improved my skin’s level of moisture. I recently ran out of my day cream so started using the oil in the mornings as well and surprisingly it works a treat – my skin looked naturally fresh with a slight dewy appearance.

It does not leave a greasy residue after it has been absorbed, and, my cheap as chips yet very effective Bourgeois 3-in-1 Foundation Cream has no problem cooperating with the oil. I recommend this for people with dry skin. I use the Viridian brand, it’s lasting me a while, I’m only into my third month now of the 200ml bottle.

The hemp oil does feel unsurprisingly oily for about ten to fifteen minutes after smoothing it on, but once it has penetrated the skin, all oiliness disappears; my skin felt soft and healthy. Apparently (according to various online health articles…!) hemp oil is perhaps the only ‘nice’ natural product to contain the best balance of the different kinds of oils in the Omega 3, 6 and 9 ‘families’, and of particular note is its high content of GLA, which is meant to be the best oil for maintenance of skin, hair and nails. But because it takes quite long to sink in it is easier to use as a night cream. And of course it doesn’t have an SPF! So that’s another issue for using it as a day cream.
