REVIEW: No7 Beautiful Skin Purifying Mask for Normal / Oily Skin
WHAT IS IT?
A thermal deep cleansing mask to draw out impurities.
HOW TO USE IT
For best results, apply to damp skin and massage for two minutes, relax (ha!) for two minutes and rinse off with warm water.

The mask itself reacts with water, making a heated sensation and opening pores which feels a little weird at first, but it really makes a difference. Leave it on for a few minutes after a good scrub, then wash off with water and pat dry. Someone else said that it left a greasy residue but this was not the case with me, if anything it left a slightly grainy residue which was gone after I put on moisturiser. The effect is excellent! My skin was really soft and felt clean, it also leaves my skin completely matte, even when I wake up the next morning! My spots have been dramatically reduced, I have used it three times now and even though the humongous ones haven’t completely gone they have vastly improved.
It gives a lovely warming sensation on application and leaves my skin feeling smooth and clean Downside is it leaves a greasy residue (note that this is the complete opposite to the review above!) on removal so you have to cleanse again.
I have combination to oily skin with breakouts. This mask left my skin looking and feeling very clean. Even days after my skin looked clear and radiant. I have tried numerous products far more expensive than this one but this one is a must have!
I suffer from combination skin, very oily patches, blackheads and spots, open pores and sensitive skin. I rarely used masks because they always seemed to aggravate one of those problems, not to mention being a pain to get off after waiting ages for them to dry. I purchased this after trying a sample because I was so impressed. It looks and feels like most masks but heats nicely on contact with your damp skin. Give your face a good scrub on problem areas for a couple of minutes-it has exfoliating bits in it too, wait a couple more and it rinses off as easily as face wash leaving your skin silky smooth, pores and blackheads visibly reduced and no dryness or tight feeling. It doesn’t dry either.
I was a bit meh when I first bought this on impulse but I am really glad I did. It is a lovely themal mask that gives you a quick soothing burst of heat when you first apply it to damp skin. This is a mask that is combined with a gentle exfoliator so you get 2 benefits in one. After using you are left with clear soft bright looking skin in only a few minutes. Really worth a try & easily as good as some much more expensive spa products I have tried.
This is a bit of a funny one. I only bought this mask as I was returning an impulse buy and was informed that as there was nothing actually wrong with the item I was returning – I think I should’ve thought of a better reason than ‘I don’t like it.’ I couldn’t have a refund (I need to check my rights!) and I could only buy a similarly priced product.
I searched for a non make up item (I’ve not worn No 7 make up since I was at school) for less than £8.00 (slim pickings!) and finally settled on this mask and paid the difference. I was a bit annoyed as it seemed to be a lot of money for only 75ml of a No 7 product (snobby much?).
When I eventually got round to using it, I hated it more than the felt pen eyeliner I originally returned. As one of the reviewers above said, the mask reacts with water and heats up (the ‘thermal’ bit) on your damp face. I’m not joking when I say it was THE hottest face mask I have ever tried, it felt like someone had put a blowtorch to my face. I got all panicky and thought I was suffering an adverse reaction and the intense heat was burning a hole in my skin. The sensation lasted only a few seconds, it felt longer! #dramaqueen, but by then I was frantically trying to rub it off. I think my face was morered from the scrubbing than the actual mask.
I looked up reviews to see if this was a common side effect and read that actually, this (albeit fleeting), intense heat is to be expected and others had felt the same as I did. I was also frankly astounded by all the positive reviews.
A few days later my mum wanted to try it despite my warnings – she’s made of stern stuff! My mum didn’t mind the heat, “It’s quite pleasant.” or the massaging – there are what feels like ‘soft’ grains in the mask, she wasn’t even bothered by a million rinses trying to wash it off – tip, use a muslin cloth. But she and I were both impressed by the results.
This product could almost be marketed as a ‘brightening’ mask. It was as if my mum had a grey film over her face beforehand and the mask took it off, leaving not only noticeably brighter skin but soft, silky feeling, (and yes, matt!) smooth skin. Suddenly all those glowing reviews made perfect sense. You can’t always appreciate instant results on yourself, but you can see it very clearly on others.
I haven’t used it again on myself (my mum’s taken it, obviously), but it’s definitely a product I will be returning to soon.
