The Waterhouse Young clinic specialises in non-surgical skin solutions. Their motto is: Prevention is better than cure.
After my HydraFacial, I compiled a list of questions for the clinic that I thought everyone would want to ask.
WHAT IS THE MOST POPULAR TREATMENT?
Everything! Botox, Skin Tightening, HydraFacial.
WHAT IS THE MOST POPULAR NON-INVASIVE SKIN TREATMENT?
Skin tightening – This is a relatively new treatment offered by Waterhouse Young and already it’s one the most requested – I will get more details!
AVERAGE AGE OF WOMEN ATTENDING THE CLINIC?
40-50 – This makes sense to me. We hit 40 and start to panic! Suddenly, all those exotic holidays and bad skin habits are beginning to take their toll.
AVERAGE AGE OF MEN ATTENDING THE CLINIC?
45-55 – OK, so this did surprise me at first, I thought the age group would be much younger, but then again, this is a professional clinic in the West End of London, run by Aesthetic Doctors and Nurses, not a High Street beauty salon.
18 – No, I will not judge.
70 – Hurrah!
BIGGEST SKIN CONCERN WOMEN HAVE?
Sun damage (pigmentation) and lines & wrinkles.
BIGGEST SKIN CONCERN MEN HAVE?
Lines & wrinkles – Bless!
MOST REQUESTED TREATMENT?
Most clients come in for an initial assessment to find out what we advise. It is unusual for treatments to be requested without this unless they have been referred by a friend for a specific treatment like the HydraFacial.
WHAT DOES VISIA SKIN ANALYSIS DO?
The Visia skin analysis enables us to see what is going on with your skin as well as what is underneath it. It is therefore part of the consultation process and allows us to formulate a comprehensive treatment plan specific to the individual. The fee is £100 which is redeemable against treatment.
It is part of the consultation process to obtain initial figures and then it is used during the treatment plan to compare results and to see how effective treatments/products are.
IS IT ABLE TO SPOT POTENTIAL SKIN PROBLEMS IE LIVER SPOTS, MOLES, CANCER?
It cannot make diagnosis, but it does highlight problem areas which need to be kept an eye on.
LET’S TALK BOTOX
WHAT’S THE MOST POPULAR INVASIVE SKIN TREATMENT?
Botox – Of course!
MOST EXPENSIVE BOTOX PROCEDURE?
Botox for excessive sweating to the hands and feet.
Botox is administered in units and priced accordingly therefore it all depends on how much Botox is required.
Clients no longer want the frozen look. It is all about subtle and natural results, making the most of what you have and still looking like you afterwards except refreshed and rejuvenated.
These are really difficult to answer because it all depends on the individual client, skin type, what their needs are etc.
- ENLARGED PORES: Generally a combination of effective skincare, HydraFacial and Dermaroller.
- SUN DAMAGE: Obagi CRx and HydraFacial with Glycolic/Salicylic peels.
- SKIN TONE: Acne Obagi Clenziderm and HydraFacial with Glycolic/Salicylic peels.
- FINE LINES: Depends where they are – Botox, Dermaroller, HydraFacial, Skin Tightening all help.
- DEEP LINES: Botox, Dermal Fillers, Fractional Skin Resurfacing.
- SAGGING SKIN IE JOWLS: Endymed Pro3deep Skin Tightening.
- ROSACEA: Hydrafacial and Obagi Rosaclear
THE NUMBER CAUSE OF SKIN AGEING?
Sun damage – Remember this when you’re outside toasting yourself in the hot rays.
THE BEST ADVICE YOU CAN OFFER TO WOMEN WHO ARE WORRIED ABOUT AGEING
Always wear an SPF even in the winter. UVA ages you, UVB burns you. UVA will be causing premature ageing all year round irrespective of the weather.
Vitamin C is the second most important product to use – a very potent antioxidant to help mop up free radicals which cause premature ageing.
