REVIEW: Kérastase Resistance Mousse Volumifique for Fine Hair

Kérastase Resistance Volumifique Mousse
I should start this review by admitting that I’m totally biased towards Kérastase, the in salon hair care products made by L’Oréal.  I’ve used products from the across the range since the late 80s and they’ve hardly ever (see below), let me down.

Thanks to my Nanokeratin treatments, I’ve not had to buy any shampoos or conditioners apart from the cheapy Organix ones, for the past two years. My last keratin treatment (October 2012) has almost grown/faded out, so before the next one, I’m going to treat my hair to a few of my favourite Kérastase products.

The collections are colour coded and each one targets a specific hair problem. I still believe these are the best hair care products on the market, though I did have a slight wobble with Cristalliste.

The formula is enriched with a “Liquid Light” Complex helps smooth the lengths without weighing them down.

Cristalliste Bain Cristal Cheveux Fins Luminous Perfecting Shampoo and 'matching' Lait Cristal Luminous Perfecting Conditioner

The Kérastase Cristalliste Bain Cristal Cheveux Fins Luminous Perfecting Shampoo and ‘matching’ Lait Cristal Luminous Perfecting Conditioner, didn’t do anything at all, for my hair. The shampoo is nothing special and the conditoner is very thin. I felt I wasted my money when products from the normal L’Oréal range would’ve done the same job for half the price.

So, moving on, my first re-purchase, because I know it works, was Kérastase Résistance Mousse Volumactive for Fine Hair. The Résistance range is essentially for old hair that’s been through the wars.

My hair is fine and doesn’t like to be weighed down with product, too much of anything can make it look greasy. This mousse is light with a gorgeous ‘fresh’ scent, it pumps out slightly foamy. Use too much and it has the potential to be sticky, but at over £15.00 for 150ml you probably won’t be too heavy-handed. When you get a feel for the correct amount to use, it will fluff up fine hair and hold the volume.

Claims:
Amplify your hair. Gives more body and suppleness. Hair has added strength and substance, with flexible hold and blow-dry protection. Hair is left with full, long-lasting volume. Style is protected with an anti-static effect.

Directions:
Apply 2-4 puffs, (I recommend just one ‘puff’) to towel-dried hair. Massage through from roots to ends. Comb through and style as usual. Do not rinse.

I love how this product delivers bounce with shine, some mousse products can stiffen and dull the hair. There’s no sticky residue and used with either the BaByliss Big Hair Rotating Styler (review to come), velcro rollers (a great review to come), or just a plain old giant barrel brush and hairdryer, it creates lift and volume that actually lasts.

It is very expensive for a hair mousse, but used frugally and pushed gently through the roots before you ‘rake’ into the lengths, you should be able to get away with one pump as it’s not a thin consistency.

Reviews:

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with fine hair who are looking for more volume and bounce without any residue or stickiness. I have been using this product for years and I think it’s brilliant!

Works really well on my really straight, fine hair that is often really flat without a good product. Lasts a good few months so is worth the extra money compared to a cheaper alternative. Highly recommend.

I ordered this Kérastase Mousse Volumactive as I couldn’t get the mousse substantive by Kerastase. This is just as good and as I have mature fine hair. I am sure it is healthier since I have been using this product. I have the shampoo as well. A little goes a long way so it’s worth the money.

I purchased this product as I read that Jennifer Aniston’s hairdresser uses it on her. I have curly hair and I purchased this for when I want to straighten it. It comes out like a mouse and smells lovely, it straightened my hair really well using a large brush, I would recommend it.

This product will definitely give your hair a lift and you only need little amount. However, as it is a bit sticky, you need to blow dry your hair and definitely just use a little amount. Great for those going out nights!

I have been using this product for years and it is brilliant. If you have fine hair and want to create manageable body this is the product for you. It does not leave any sticky residue and it helps you to create your style and helps keep your hair in that style. Fantastic!

I use this mousse with Kérastase Ciment Thermique Heat-activated reconstructing milk.

Again, an arm and a leg at £15.12, but this gorgeous grapefruit scented balm/cream (certainly not a ‘milk’ it’s much thicker) will tame and smooth hair when you’re abusing it with your hairdryer.

I paid  full whack for the mousse at a salon because I needed it there and then, but you can buy it for £14.04 (free delivery) from Terence Paul Online though I’ve never bought from them before.

It’s also priced at £14.62 from Feel Unique
